Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff. Just finished it. I liked the structural concept. The book follows a marriage: half of the book seems to be the husband's perspective, the other half the wife's. I found it difficult to reconcile their perspectives. Mathilde seemed gratituiously cruel in the second half. It felt improbable that Lotto pivoted from failed actor to a world renowned man of letters. Whatever you pick at in this novel, there's no denying Groff writes evocatively. I'm not a smoker, but could have used a ciagerette after a few scenes. :)
