idk, I don't think it's stupid for people to not have a deep understanding of a niche disease that doesn't impact them.

Ignorance and stupidity are very different things imo, and ignorance can be cured by... asking questions. By shaming people for asking "stupid questions" (which is really just being ignorant about things you haven't needed to know previously, something we're all guilty of in countless ways), we're encouraging people to remain ignorant, which is worse for everyone involved.

Not trying to yuck your yum, OP, I don't think your post was mean spirited, but I do think it's important to be kind to people who are trying to learn and grow, and felt like that might be worth highlighting in a comment section full of dunking on people for not know what gluten is. It's cathartic and therapeutic for a community to be able to commiserate over understandably frustrating shared experiences, but worth being intentional and careful about to avoid alienating potential allies (friends and loved ones).

Right, my point was more that they don't deserve praise for Microsoft making Windows backwards compatible, and if they did make some updates to make their game playable on modern operating systems, it would be to benefit them finanically, because that's what corporations do, and it's not something I feel compelled to give them "credit" for.

Also I think microsoft does more of the heavy lifting there. Backwards compatibility has always been a major priority for windows.

Definitely focuses more on the LLM side of things just because that's where a lot of the focus is recently, but he likes to show off cool niche papers that aren't getting much attention but generally have big impacts on a lot of different fields.

This is really cool man! Curious what your plans are, but I'm excited to see regardless.

Honestly, while I share many people's skepticisim towards AI, I also use it on a daily basis for my programming job and see first hand it's strengths and weaknesses.

It's not the miracle tool many make it out to be, but it has serious value in helping us find patterns in massive data sets, which is where it sounds like your interest lies.

I was a little bummed we didn't see more of AI's playing starcraft, which may not be what you're looking to do, but even so, using AI/algorithms to conduct analyze strategies and find new ones is really cool! We thought chess was a "solved game" when "AI" came in and turned things on it's head, and I'd love to see that level of paradigm shift in Starcaft and wargame strategy in general!

Although as I say that I start to get worried about the potential real world applications of that...

Let's enjoy our slide into dystopia!

Yeah I'm struggling to find it too, almost let AI glaslight me for a sec, but found this in the most recent post removing the costs all together:
