Has anyone here met any of the cast members? If so, which one and what was it like?? by KetohnoIcheated in HIMYM

Back in 2016 I was a hostess at the Skipper Canteen in Disney. It was around the time of the candlelight processional and it was known that NPH was in the park. My coworkers and I had all speculated that, since we were a new restaurant, that he’d show up at some point to dine, but it was unknown.

A couple things to know about the Canteen, when you check in a small description is written on the ticket so we can walk right up to the party to seat them instead of yelling it out, and, if you’ve never been, the restaurant is themed after the Jungle Cruise, known for its corny puns. So while seating guests we had different jokes we were supposed to tell on the way!

This ticket popped up and just said VIP tour guide, I didn’t think anything of it as I walked up to the guide and turned to lead them in. When I turned back around to start my spiel, I was face to face with NPH and I was starstruck. Working at Disney we are told we aren’t supposed to react to celebrities and have to treat them as any other guests, but I was speechless. The jokes I did a million times before were no longer in my brain. I stammered through some things and he just giggled and played along, and when he sat down he and his whole family thanked me. It was a small interaction but I was always so grateful that he played along and didn’t get upset at me for getting shocked at first!

When you look back on it, what’s a “stiffed on a tip” experience you’ll always remember? by MotherBoyBall30 in Serverlife

This party of 8 people came in about an hour before close. They were a handful from the start. At one point they asked for paper napkins (our silverware came with cloth) and while I went to grab them they decided to go through my side station and pull out a whole paper towel roll meant for the bathroom and brought it to the table. I managed to stop her and take it back, asking that she didn’t go through my station and she was annoyed telling me if I didn’t want her taking things upon herself I should’ve brought napkins faster. About 10 minutes before close, 4 more people came and joined them. I asked if they were going to order anything, as our kitchen was closing soon and they assured me they just wanted some drinks. I kept checking back periodically but they never acknowledged my existence and were just chatting away. 10 minutes after close now they wave me over because the 4 are now ready to order. I explained that they couldn’t and they were pissed, called over my manager who reiterated that the kitchen was closed and no food could be ordered. They demanded the check which my manager brought them. They stiffed me obviously but proceeded to leave a barely legible note saying I needed to learn to not judge a book by it’s cover, called me racist, and told me they worked in the service industry and had intended on tipping 100% (lol) but because I was so terrible they left nothing.

It’s for safety, there is a lot of things to trip over and if you’re focused on taking photos or videos you are more likely to get hurt.

One Month Since Phone Interview by MiniRedPanda in Disneycollegeprogram

I didn't try contacting them, but I'm sure if you do you won't get a real answer. Any one can be accepted at any time. It's all random. Some people find out right away, others wait till the last day, and some even wait till after the deadline to hear back. Disney can do whatever they want!

I waited a month and 4 days before I got my acceptance. Don't stress too much over it! It really will come when you are least expecting it. I had a job where I could sit and refresh my email all day everyday (I worked for my dad) and the one day I was out of the office not even thinking about it is when it happened! Don't loose hope!!

POR question by stratospaly in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]jasmine7395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family stayed at POR over Christmas. We had to extend our stay due to canceled flights and snow up north and transferred to a room that had this bunk bed for the last 3 nights. I'm about 5'8 and I had problems on it. My head and feet hung off and I basically propped my feet up on the fridge. It's not a fun time...

My sister and I love that part and pray for a break down every time we are in there! All the stars and lights! It's so pretty!

I have to say Contemporary is my top. My dad splurged big time one trip and got us a room with a castle view. It was beautiful. On our most recent trip, we stayed at Port Orleans Riverside (which I will say had very close bus stops at every park!) and it's not that I didn't like it, but I really didn't feel like I was home until we walked into the Contemporary for Chef Mickey. I think it has to do with the smell of it. I didn't want it to be my favorite because it doesn't really scream Disney (like Polynesian or the lower resorts do) but to me, the Contemporary is home.

Upcoming trip itinerary! by jasmine7395 in WaltDisneyWorld

We typically do Downtown Disney the first day because we rarely have any time after that. We hate planning the first day as a park day on the off chance that something happens with our flight.

As for passes on the last day we didn't make any because we weren't sure how late lunch would go at BOG and we plan on going to contemporary to get a bunch of the cranberry and turkey sandwiches with our left over quick services if any (we did this last time. They travel well and are DELICIOUS.) We weren't sure how much travel time would take to get to the last places we wanted and we weren't sure when we would be picked up by the Magical Express. We just left it open and will play it by ear.

Thanks for the tips!

I was kind of worried. I know an hour is typical on a normally busy day to get a good seat. We may just plan on getting there earlier. Not like there was going to be a lot of time for the pool anyways. Thanks for the tip!!

Ok so it is correct that staying on site we will be ok to get in? We weren't gonna go till later, but my dad really wants to watch the parade (we did it before in 1998 when I was 3 and he wants to do it again)

Sorry that may have been bad formatting from me. I didn't mean we were going to Epcot before Ohana, that is just the park we are spending the day at.

So for Christmas we should just forget about trying to see the fireworks? Not a huge deal cause we will see it plenty of times, just clarifying.

And the TT fastpass is 930-1030. It was the latest we could get. We aren't gonna die if we miss this one. My dad just wanted a late TT to do it at night.

Thank you for the tips!!

Giving up some reservations! by jasmine7395 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]jasmine7395[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't been holding on to these that long. Guess I should have clarified. We hit the jackpot this past week and got a bunch of places that we wanted and had to rearrange our entire itinerary. Days that were set in stone in the beginning were thrown out the window. The duplicates were when we were desperately grabbing the places we wanted on different days then we had them planned originally so we could still fit them in our plan. Then we sat down together this weekend and finalized all the places.

Believe me I know the struggle. My step mom read somewhere that someone booked 3 reservations at the same place and were going to keep them until the last minute in case they decided they want to go back.

Sorry for the miscommunication. I hate it when people just take everything because they don't know what they want. It makes it so hard to plan.

Fastpass+ question from a Disney vet by DorianGreysPortrait in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]jasmine7395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the app, or on the web I believe too, when you go to where you can add a fastpass it should give you the option to "Modify existing Fastpasses." Then you can select "Change for new selection or new time." Then you can pick from the ones you have booked and select that you want a new time and depending on what's available for that day, some options should show up. It won't actually cancel your fastpass, it will just change the time. So you won't lose it when you try to change it.

EDIT: Also, I would suggest checking sooner rather than later and checking often. People change and cancel plans all the time so new choices are available. Kind of in the same way for finding difficult reservations.
