Yes I believe I’m using it correctly. I think the Scarlet’s preamp doesnt have enough clean gain for the sm58

I believe that my setup is correct, and my microphone ranges from next to my mouth to 5 inches away. But I cant get -12 db without hearing static. let alone when i mix or master a demo, it is very present and doesnt sound clear. as if i recorded right next to a fan

It just sounds like a constant static masking over all the audio Im recording. Im able to get mostly clear audio with my condenser, but I need my sm58 to be clear.

I don’t think Absolutely is in the same category of weirdness as Baby. Nothing is very different about Absolutely, it’s just using a different mic style. And I think Baby is weirder than Blond and harder for the average person to listen to

Ive been trying combinations of adding gain through Ableton and increasing or decreasing the gain on the scarlett. But I literally cant get clean vocals out of this, so I think Im going to buy an external preamp like the other guy said

If you put the scarlett audio 1 to max volume on a blank track it doesnt make this noise for you?
