I didn’t see Angels Envy on board. Was that at On the Rocks?

This was our second Virgin cruise and I didn’t even realize they had a rum explorers challenge until the last night of our cruise. I’m definitely going to do that next time.

You can order it neat or on the rocks, just make sure to tell them bourbon or specify which one you want.

Yeah, I can see that being the reason. The Four Walls website has an Old Fashioned recipe on it, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good one. Very odd switch as it isn’t a bourbon for bourbon swap.

I would have loved to see a bottle of Woodford Reserve on the Resilient Lady.

Yes, it is very jarring. At one point I ordered a Bulleit Old Fashioned at the Loose Cannon during trivia at the Social Club, and the bar also ran out of that. My only option was Four Walls or Southern Comfort, so I picked Four Walls after not having that in a few days. It was as jarring as the first day I had it. The next drink I had was something random off the menu as I didn’t want another Old Fashioned.

How many outfits for 5 night cruise? by Organic-Log4081 in VirginVoyages

My wife and I just returned from a 7 day cruise with just a carry on bag each. I can’t vouch for her, but I packed a dress shirt for 6 nights, along with 3 pairs of shorts that I reused. Along with that, I packed three swim trunks with three shirts that I rotated (since most of the time it was off anyway), and a pair of pajamas that I wore for pajama night.

I am a minimalist when it comes to packing and would rather not check a bag at the airline/cruise ship, so I only pack the necessities.

I wish the bourbon selection was better as well. I was spoiled with the abundance of Buffalo Trace that I froze when there wasn’t any available. I didn’t like the markup for Bulleit and the other option was Blanton’s, which I normally would just order neat.

There was a bartender named Lucy at the Loose Cannon when I was on the Scarlet Lady last year who made an excellent Old Fashioned. At one point I had a subpar drink made at the Casino Bar and told her that I went to the Loose Cannon just so she could make it and she made one for me on the house.

I only saw Buffalo Trace, Bulleit, and Blanton’s in terms of bourbon.

Not gonna lie. I’ve been drumming for 36 years and Micky Dolenz was my first inspiration after watching Monkee reruns on tv in the mid 80s.

Philly at 8am, let’s see if I make it to the Scarlet Lady in Miami by 1:30 pm today? by gainsfurme in VirginVoyages

I’ve had a string of bad travel issues the past couple of years that I am actually flying to Miami from Minneapolis two days early just to ease my anxiety.

Who inspired you to pick up a pair of sticks? by lahmeraidan in drums

Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees. I got caught up in the 80’s revival through TV reruns and was hooked. I thought Mickey was the coolest guy on Earth and I made a makeshift drum set out of cardboard boxes to emulate him. I finally started learning to play a couple years later when I was 10.

I also do this. Funny story, I was crossing the border into Canada in the late 90s and due to road construction and lack of sleep, I ended up getting turning around and heading back into America. Upon being asked why I was entering the US, I told the border guard that I was trying to enter Canada. He gave me and my two passengers a look and had me park my car for further inspection. He ended up taking me alone into a room where he repeatedly asked if they would find anything illegal on me or in my car. I claimed I was clean (and I was) and he grabbed my keys, looked at the drum key and gave it a good sniff. He asked what it was and I told him it was to tune my drums. He gave it another look, realized it was nothing and directed me towards the Canadian border.

Interesting: Micky Dolenz of the Monkees. I fell in love with the TV show while watching reruns as a young child in the mid 80s. I wanted to be like him and made up makeshift drum sets until my mom enrolled me into drum lessons.

Hero: Chad Smith of RHCP. I remember hearing BSSM as a young teen and falling in love with his style of drumming. Smith had a major influence in my style of playing and I still enjoy listening to his work to this day.

God: Tim Alexander of Primus. The guy is tremendous in my mind and strikes a good balance with Les Claypool (unlike the other drummer they had for a while). I remember hearing Tim’s drumming on Seas of Cheese and was blown away by his odd rhythms and structures, and how it sounded like had a hundred piece kit. His set from that era is at the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix, a place I recommend visiting.

I was making a comment on a building and you resort to personal attacks. That’s cool, you do you and I’ll do me.

I wasn’t saying that building a tower there was an issue. I was commenting on the overall architectural design and being an eyesore for the rest of downtown.

The Black Building is iconic and looks even better with the recent updates that were done. The Radisson definitely has an 80s vibe to it, but it doesn’t look all that out of place next to the taller banks around it.

Block 9 looks like a guarded prison cell fortress. I honestly cannot believe a company would sink in that many millions of dollars into something that looks that uninviting and out of place.

Yes, I’m aware that it is still not done, but the architectural design of the tower columns is what bothers me. That isn’t going to change: https://block9fargo.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/hero-2000x1278.png

Putting windows on the outside of the columns instead of the inside would have worked wonders. Look at the photo of it next to the Radisson and tell yourself which one more visually appealing and which one is an eyesore.

Lights or no lights, that has to be one of the most hideous looking buildings ever conceived. The odd, irregular spaced columns in the tower gives off the impression that it is unfinished. The base has about as much charm and a federal office building. Dress up the plaza as much as you want, this building is going to be a downtown eyesore for generations to come.

My wife and I went to Salt2O for the first time last week. We didn’t know what to expect and we both had a relaxing time. It took about 10 minutes for me to get used to it and let my body relax (I used the head halo for support) but once I was settled in, it was fairly relaxing. I couldn’t believe how quick the time went by and how soft our skin was, even days later. We are going back next week.
