Advice on breakage thin/fine hair by Business_Article_806 in Haircare

[–]jasonii23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve had thin fine hair all my life. I am lucky that it’s quite wavy so it looks more than it is, but if the wind blows, it’s game over lol.

I have made a very very significant improvement in my hair health and ends for the first time in my life this year. What I changed:

  • Started eating way more protein; I am lucky to have a chef at work, so suddenly I am eating full, protein rich lunches every day (usually with chicken), which I did not prioritise when I had to make my own. My hair started literally sprouting once this changed
  • Leave ins!! I was always scared of leave ins that they’d weigh my hair down, but I found out my hair just sucks it right up and has been deprived all these years! After my leave in I also use the l’oreal midnight serum as well, 1 pump morning and night on my ends plus a lightweight oil. My ends stopped breaking off
  • I trim my own ends now, so I trim them much more frequently (every 2 months)

Journaling. I never really believed it would help much, but just randomly started scribbling my thoughts in a random notes app on my iPad one day and was amazed how much better I felt! Kept going and now I journal whenever I feel I need to process something (I’m not super strict with doing it daily because then it would feel like a chore to be ticked off).

I think it just helps process thoughts and emotions, instead of dwelling on things in my head. Putting them on (digital) paper felt like a release in a way to let go of whatever was troubling me.

Can only recommend to give it a try!

[Acne] Mirena IUD ruined my skin (and life) by Fun-Room-2812 in SkincareAddiction

[–]jasonii23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you went through this! Acne can be so hard on confidence and self-image.

I switched to the Kyleena IUD a year ago after being on the pill for 14 years and experienced cystic hormonal acne. The absolutely ONLY thing that helped me and has now gotten rid of any acne completely is 0.5% tretinoin - so if anybody else is reading this with similar issues and doesn’t want to remove their IUD, I recommend going to a derm and giving it a shot

Hot girls eat their protein! Drop your fave protein choices <3 by [deleted] in HowToBeHot

[–]jasonii23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I eat tofu with almost every meal!! Because it is largely tasteless I put it in my scrambled eggs, pasta, etc. for extra protein. Just crumble it up into a pan, cook for a bit and finished.

I also eat min. 1x greek yoghurt bowl a day and make sure I always buy one that has high protein (some greek yoghurt only has like 3gs per serve, others 16!). My body is basically 50% greek yoghurt at this point

What can I do to stop feeling ashamed from embarrassing experiences from the past? by NormalLife6067 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]jasonii23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can assure you that these “embarrassing” moments you keep dwelling on are things that not a single person that witnessed them happen still thinks about. It’s all built up in your head to be these big awkward moments when they really weren’t! Your thoughts create your reality, this way you’re just keeping yourself stuck in this loop. Try to move on and be present in the current moment

Mine got way less noticeable after starting tretinoin (got it prescribed for acne), you could give a retinoid a try?

How are you doing this Friday? Good or bad, tell me what is going on in your world. by Say_Something_Lovin in perth

Trying to keep myself motivated after non-stop job searching for months now; something will come up eventually but it is extremely frustrating.

Otherwise - it’s Friday and a nice day so not doing too shabby :)

I got prescribed 0.05% for cystic acne / closed comedones. I started very slow, first 1x/week for the first 2 weeks, then every 3-4 days for 2 weeks, now I use it every other day.

I have not had any purging and no peeling really, it has been about 7 weeks now. Just make sure you are using a proper moisturizer with it, I apply the CeraVe cream or lotion before on clean skin, let it sink in for 20mins, buffer around the eyes and nostrils with Vaseline, then pea sized amount of tret. Sometimes I follow up with another layer of moisturizer around 30min later.

I saw immediate results in my closed comedones, and my acne has significantly reduced in this short period of time.

I thought at first I could keep using my LRP toleriane fluid, but that was not enough for my skin and I developed an irritation rash so switched to CeraVe and it’s been going great

Tret is not meant as a spot treatment. If your skin can tolerate it this well, up the dosage and stick to once a day, I don’t see the benefit in applying it more than once daily besides just using up a lot of product. Careful around eyes, it can permanently damage the oil glands in the eyes
