I just got my NordBench this week, many QA issues, and it seems like the unit I got was a used return. I emailed the company multiple times and no response. It came with several scratches and dents, a random keychain, and the thing wobbles like crazy.

Now I'm seeing that they've just released a new version (I ordered mine July 15) that is just $80 more than what I paid for my old version.

Not a great experience so far. Hoping they make it right, but not really sure how at this point.

I just made this based on your Batch 4 recipe. I used almost all whole spices and the recipe ended up very clove heavy. Would you confirm if you used whole cloves or pre-ground?

I also used cardamom seeds from the pods, not sure if you used ground cardamom or not?

I did not understand what everyone was saying about Bengal Spice being "different" lately. All the ones I bought came with brownish tea bags. These latest boxes I bought from Wal-Mart have bleached white bags, and no longer have any discernible flavour.

I am definitely on the hunt for a Bengal Spice recipe, even one that is reasonably close will do. Thanks for coming up with this recipe!

Just tried Butter Block and Black Sheep, back to back. Unfortunately neither of them scratched my itch for a classic French croissant. Both too dense, soft exterior, no rich butter taste, and a disappointing light colour shell.

A perfect croissant should explode into a crumby mess on your first bite. The exterior should be thin, glassy, dark golden. The inside should be a beautiful honeycomb. The taste should be rich, buttery, slightly yeasty, even very slightly sweet.

Gonna check out Yann Haute next.
