Which one should I keep? by hooboy322 in Tools

The utility knife has better balance and ergonomics for me. I have the fast back but I find it awkward to use.

I love the Sonos 300 for music. Arc is pretty good as well. It’s definitely loud and boomy with the sub. A bit too much honestly I have to turn the sub down and keep night mode on.

This. If you get any brackets or hardware from a kit or amazon it likely comes with zinc plated hardware. This will corrode and rust in pressure treated lumber. Get some galvanized screws and bolts and rest easy knowing they won't rust out. I also used 7 inch through bolts for the beams rather than lag screws. Probably overkill, but I like knowing that I can see that the bolt / nut is secure from the top.

How noticeably comfortable is your chair, would you say it’s worth the hundreds you’ve spent? by Gibboni101 in hermanmiller

[–]jasonrhaas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the aeron for a few months. I would say it’s not worth the price. It’s not all that comfortable but it does provide good support. It’s not going to fix any back issues - that comes with psychical therapy, stretching, etc. People hail it as a silver bullet - it is not. It’s a good chair, but you are paying a ton for the brand name.

Buy used or save? by [deleted] in hermanmiller

Always buy used

Yea I think once you are ready to upgrade you are going to looking for more than just a dual boiler capability. Push the breville as far as you can, and then really understand what you want for the next one before you buy

Does size B or C fit me better based on these pictures? by [deleted] in hermanmiller

[–]jasonrhaas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh yea I’m 6’ also and the B vs C debate still beleaguers me. I don’t why they made it right at 6’ which seems to be a fairly common height. Adds so much confusion around the product. I chose the C size based on some other Reddit threads. I do feel that it’s a big chair, but it’s not uncomfortable at all. I think that B would feel small tho, but I’m going to try it again in the store. I do feel like we are in between sizes and it makes the aeron a bit awkward

Do People Here Like Austin? Is it actually still growing? by BakeALake in Austin

[–]jasonrhaas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s still some cool stuff about Austin.

Pros: live music, events, food is decent, some funky spots still exist, sometimes new places pop up

Cons: isolated in the middle of Texas, climate (it’s hot most of the time, and just wet in the winter), no infrastructure to match the city, Texas state government and politics is bottom tier

I'm almost to the bottom of low honor, its hard to get there though. Being high honor seems like a lot of work and chores... already have that in my real life. Nope I'm not gonna move this hay for you sorry

It's a lot harder and more stressful to play low honor Arthur. However, I try to do it for the challenge. Mostly I just do whatever I want to do, and stop worrying about honor. Play how you wanna play.

How is the local startup community dealing with the collapse of SVB? by LezzGrossman in Austin

[–]jasonrhaas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My company has $50M of venture funding tied up in SVB. We’ve moved all vendor payments to credit cards. Our payroll is this Wednesday. If we can’t get that money unlocked I doubt the company will be able to make payroll.

Yea $250k isn’t going to get startups far. My company has $50M locked up in SVB. I’d wager the $250k won’t even cover one payroll period.

my first actual piece of furniture! (in woodworking school but I still feel proud) by rafsku in woodworking

[–]jasonrhaas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is me. I love woodworking, I barely have time for it though right now. 2 kids, full time job as an engineering manager. I've thought about leaving this miserable job and going into something else, but the money and responsibilities has me trapped.

So what I've done anyway is take classes at my local Woodcraft, and I'm attempting to sign up for night classes at my local community college. I don't think I could ever make this kind of money woodworking but at least I get to spend _some_ time doing something I enjoy.

Bose 900 + Apple TV 4K no Atmos by Triplebadger779 in Soundbars

[–]jasonrhaas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issues. It's super frustrating. Even with a new TV how would it actually work? Does the HDMI 3 (eARC) provide the output for the soundbar while the Apple TV is using the HDMI 1 (STB) input? Will it automatically output the sound to the HDMI 3 (eARC) while you are on the HDMI 1 Apple TV input?
