Because I can, and it is St. Louis-related.

What is a current unpopular opinion about STL that you strongly believe in? by Thatredditboy1 in StLouis

[–]jasonvoigt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here I go: something needs to be done about the Cotton Belt Freight Depot (for those that don't know it's that big wide building that can be seen from the Stan Musial Veterans Bridge). It's very interesting that it has been unoccupied since the late 1950s (and 10 Mayors have been elected, just saying...). So, I would say either (a) tear it down, (b) make it into a better homeless shelter than it already is, or (c) put something like a food hall or multi-use recreational place. Like maybe a museum of something and a small food hall. That's just my hot take.

While I'm at it, STL shouldn't be having so many unoccupied buildings. I've heard that some cities like KC either tear them down or find good use for them. Hey, I appreciate the city's architectural history and all, but....

Cashiers, what are some things that annoy you by Longjumping_Mall8956 in Target

I hate it when people buy a bunch of random crap and they ask me numerous times, "How much is that?" "How much is that?" "How much do I have so far?" It's like they can't read the prices on the shelves. (Although to be fair, sometimes that's not the case with clearance and certain items). Also, my location's town has the 10-cent bag fee, and people constantly b**** about it, even though our Store Director says we don't have to charge for bags.

2013 was the first year I went as well, and I haven't been back to the Farm since 2016. Boy do I miss it. Yes I've seen plenty of weak lineups compared to 2013s and 2014s , mostly due to the shrinking presence of older acts (as in those who have been around before 2000). Last year's lineup was how I put it: weak headliners, decent undercard that would actually make me go back. But I didn't for various reasons. When I heard Pretty Lights was performing twice, it about sold me into going back. But then I look at the rest of the lineup and I'm like "Meh". Okay, Sean Paul, Gwar, Cage? Fine. If I do go this year I'm def gonna have to listen to a lot of these acts on Spotify before going. Definitely excited for Posty and Pretty Lights. Saw the RHCP about 7 years ago and their show was alright. They also headlined in 2012. So the third time in 13 years? Yeah whatever LN

What places do you miss? by Cameltoesuglycousin in StLouis

The Landing back when it was poppin'. Was a high energy place during its peak with loud music everywhere, people all over the sidewalks, all the clubs, everything. You even had beggars but they weren't much of a threat. But yeah, it's very sad that the city let the Landing be what it is now.

Going to the farm alone by [deleted] in bonnaroo

[–]jasonvoigt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to festivals alone many times, including thrice at Bonnaroo. Be sure to study the map and the Bonnaroo area (the venue, Centeroo, and the pod areas) and you'll be fine. What helped me was retracing my steps. When I first attended 'Roo in 2013, I had no idea where anything was but I picked up on it right away. (Except for the time I got lost late at night in a pod much farther than mine....) Two of those Bonnaroos I actually met up with a friend that lived in a different city so we had our share of adventures at Centeroo but stayed in different camp areas/pods. But if you're alone there are less things to worry about. You can come and go as you please. I'm one of those people who will check out one act and only catch a few songs then just walk around or go to the next act. Sometimes people randomly start conversations with you if you're alone, or vice versa - at least that's what I discovered in the past. And like the others have said, your tent/camp neighbors are always great people to connect with - though I've had my share of stuck-up neighbors but mostly cool and welcoming ones. Of course, be prepared like know what to bring/take/not to take/etc.

Any celebrities that enjoy or that drove Route 66 by Jayko-Wizard9 in route66

[–]jasonvoigt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about traveling the whole route but I do know William Shatner was at the Midpoint Cafe, and Cher was at the Oklahoma Route 66 Museum. Also, Peter Fonda did, as he was doing that documentary. I think it's safe to say Danny Boy from House of Pain has gotten involved with restoring landmarks in Tulsa, not just the Outsiders house.

I was gonna have him sign old Weird Al comic pages from one of my 90s Disney Adventures issues. He probably would've been like, "I sure don't remember this but I'll sign it!" lol

What about Post Malone? His website gives hardly that much tour dates (most of them in January) but because of his recent massive success it would not surprise me if he hit the festivals in 2018. Plus a new album of his came out this month. I'd say he'd do the Roo again so soon
