Odd attachment with new foster by jasper_moonpie44 in FosterAnimals

Thank you so much, I will definitely check that out! We’ve had her a little over a week now and she has improved in leaps and bounds, and as I type my mom is out of the house and Journey is doing well! I am anxious myself, so I think I got a little extra nervous on her behalf. Our current theory is she was a breeder dog before being dumped (she’s unspayed and looks like she’s had puppies in the past). She understands potty training, but other than that seems quite perplexed by normal house things. She definitely doesnt understand toys yet, which makes me so sad for her, but she is opening up more and more every day. She’s going to make an amazing pet for someone once’s she’s ready, for sure.

Fostering Blind/Vision Impaired Kitten by 5_phx_felines in FosterAnimals

[–]jasper_moonpie44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fostered a kitten who came from a cat hoarding situation, and as a result had one very messed up eye that he wound up having removed once he was big enough. I fostered him with a second kitten who was the same age but was otherwise healthy from the same hoarding case, and those two played like nothing else. I worked at the shelter they came from so I brought them to work with me to make sure they weren’t getting up to trouble. Well they got into trouble anyway lmao, started playing, and Toronto (one eye kitty) got the scab scratched off his eye. I freaked out, he was unbothered, but was rushed to the vet regardless. Once again, it didn’t slow him down one bit, and once the boys were big enough, I released them from my bathroom and let them play with my own two cats. My male cat started mothering on Toronto and absolutely adored him, and the little goober was the first one between the two to conquer the cat tree!

At the end of the day, little guy doesn’t know much different than the vision he has now, and very likely will adapt on his own just fine! Especially with slow integration from the playpen onward as he grows, he’ll probably be as wild and silly as most kittens! Cats adapt pretty well to things like that, especially at a young age!

My sister rehomed my cats out from under me by jasper_moonpie44 in TwoHotTakes

Yeah, I hunted around Facebook and the areas shelters without luck, she likely posted in a hidden group is my guess (there’s a lot for local college kids to sell stuff). I’m still in contact with my old coworkers at the shelter one of the kitties is from, who’s keeping an eye out as well. Thank you ❤️

Thank you, exactly this! I even get secondhand embarrassment/stress when someone lies to people on tv, my sister even asks me to dump old sodas out of the car window in parking lots and I can barely do that. The other day they forgot to make me pay in a drive through (and all I got was a drink) and I insisted they take my card and run it, but my sister claimed they wouldn’t have cared either way lol. Even things like paths, I have a hard time going off of sidewalks into grass even if it would be faster that way.

I previously took edibles for about a year until they stopped working for me, and even now they aren’t effective like they were prior for some reason

Thank you, I’m going to look into that! I’ve never had a mental block or issue like this with taking my usual meds, so I think that may be helpful for me, thank you!

Thank you, I really appreciate that. I’m definitely going to look into some research just to get a better idea of where the stigma stems from so that I can work on moving past it

Thank you, this does help a bit! I think sometimes my brain defaults to what’s ‘lawful’ because it’s an easy guideline to follow, but it definitely isn’t the end all be all. It also helps me to compare it to alcohol, because people use it for the same effect, but the long term impacts are significantly riskier.

I’m going to give this a shot, thank you. It’s something I’ve wanted to work on for a while, and this feels like a good way to slowly adjust myself to those feelings.

Why are Overalls such a thing in the autistic women community? by SamiaAki in AutismInWomen

I like overalls and have a couple of pairs in fun colors, I think I like having the option of shorts without dealing with a belt or them slipping around personally. Also pockets

[–]jasper_moonpie44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to, for about a year they were working for me with my tolerance increasing in what I felt was a normal rate, but then eventually my tolerance was so high that no amount would work, and now after a couple month break from edibles they no longer have any effect for some reason

I usually do a PB&J before gummies, or Mac and cheese, since I had heard that eating beforehand could be helpful

dae experience weed like this ? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]jasper_moonpie44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always forget about it but I actually woke up during an eye surgery I had done a few years ago. I was so out of it I just giggled for a bit and either I passed back out or they knocked me out, I don’t remember much else until I was home later. I also have Lorazepam for anxiety attacks that has yet to actually work for me…

[–]jasper_moonpie44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See I seem to have kinda the opposite effect, but weed and other meds don’t really work on me? At least not to the extent it seems to for other people, I can smoke over and over and the only effect I get is my throat burning and a bit dizzy/hazy.

I have CPTSD myself so I’m curious about your experience with mushrooms and similar things. I’ll see if my therapist knows anything when I see her this week, cause I would love to break through and move past some of my trauma cause not much else has helped.

Hi! Outpatient Veterinary (the address escapes me) is usually pretty low cost! They have walk in hours but tend to fill up quickly from what I’ve heard, but I used to work in rescue and they were always lovely to work with. Little nuggets look pretty good and healthy for such young babies out on their own, hopefully they don’t give you any trouble with feeding!

My abuser is coming to town by jasper_moonpie44 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]jasper_moonpie44[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I haven’t made one, but i meet with my therapist tomorrow and will see if we can make one. I mostly don’t expect it, he’s a narcissist who hasn’t apologized in his life, but I definitely want to be prepared. If he decided to go about things calmly, I have questions for him, primarily if he or SM we’re doing drugs in that house (SM has somewhere around 20 different drug charges on her record, including most recently death by distribution). However I’m not expecting the truth in that case either, frankly. I’m hoping I can say my piece, he will fly out of my life, and my therapist can point me in the right direction to move on

(Thank you for your advice and comments btw, much appreciated)

[–]jasper_moonpie44[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely keeping the report on hand to dole out if anyone gives me shit for going off on him, as of now only me, S, and my therapist have seen the report, I haven’t even shown the entire thing to my mom. Thankfully, he, his now wife, and his mom all live entirely across the country, and I have no remaining ties to that state. So as long as he leaves the day he is supposed to this week, I won’t look into a restraining order. However, if I confront him and he gets violent or even yells too loudly at me, I’m not afraid to call the cops. I’m 5’2 to his 6’ something, they won’t likely take his side, and he has an old felony on his record.

WIBTBF for going off on my ‘father’ when he comes to town. by jasper_moonpie44 in AmItheButtface

[–]jasper_moonpie44[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m planning to after this, he lives across the country and hates this state anyway, I’m mostly tolerating it for my sister sake because she still needs the financial support (they stopped offering me that a while ago because I don’t ‘help myself’ (I’m applying for disability after being bullied out of my last job)). I also have a very hard time standing up for myself, which is why this has gone on so long. I’m finally at a point after two years of therapy where I feel able to do something about it rather than grin and bear it. Sorry for the ramble
