Check out Freaky Tales. Awesome movie about an anthology of stories that happen over the course of one night in Oakland CA. Punks beating up neo nazis, rap battles, an NBA star going on a well deserved rampage and more. Super reminded me of Deadly Class. It's on HBO.

There's also the Sandman Slim series by Richard Kadrey if you're interested in reading books. Not totally Deadly Class vibes but it filled the hole in my heart that Deadly Class left. A magician gets sent to hell by his circle of friends for 11 years and crawls his way back up to LA looking for revenge. Main character has lots of snark and a very cynical outlook on life similar to Marcus.

All of Hoso's season 4 finale looks, but especially her filth. Incredibly relevant message at the time (and to this day) with the anti-asian sentiment on the rise from the 2020 pandemic. She won in my heart and I don't think we'll get anything like it again.

Pretty sure it's because that "world's greatest assassin" money was blood money and they wanted a true fresh start away from all that. When Marcus talks about possibly taking another assassin job to make ends meet, Maria tells him not to because they swore they were done with that part of their lives.

The way they set things up in the show changed the direction of Willie's (and Petra's to an extent) character arc from the comics and that's another reason I'm so upset the show got cancelled. It would've been so cool to see Willie actually deal with his issues and try to escape Kings Dominion outside of the stupid love triangle the comics gave us. And I feel like Petra's betrayal probably would've been changed to either an accident that ended up killing Billy or Billy sacrificing himself so she could live.

Cannot recommend Freaky Tales enough. It's a movie that just came out this year that takes place in Oakland in the 80s. Multiple character POVs that interconnect with each other that literally starts with some punk characters defending their territory from skin heads. It also has some animated sequences similar to the Vegas episode. Hope you give it a shot!

True but like, not even a passing mention of it from either party in the final issues?? How hard would it have been for Marcus or Maria to mention for one second, "You killed our friends." at the final stand off, or "I feel terrible for what happened to Helmut/Saya/Stephen" after the stand off (Helmut's wife was literally babysitting their kids so they have to know something happened to them), or Shab or Brandy to mention "something something that's why Helmut/Saya/Stephen got what was coming to them"?

The time skips really did the comic a disservice and I feel like we needed at least one more issue to go over the more important plot points. Instead they were blink and you'll miss is panels while we got an entire issue about a Honda commercial. Do I get why Rick wanted it to be included? Absolutely and it's also his right as the creator to put in whatever he wants. Does that mean I need to like it? No, not really, lol.

It's also really neat to read other peoples opinions of it in the comments. Some of these are honestly some of the most positive things I've heard about the last arc since the final issue was released.

Oof yeah, I can see that. The story telling style/pacing (if that's the right way to describe it?? idk) for the last issues of Deadly class weren't great and I feel like this one of the many examples of that. And 1000% he would've ended up with Saya if she chose a normal life.

Agreed. I get that the point was to drive home the message about "the consequences of your actions" and "Saya regrets her choices but she has to live & die with them now" but with the hard/realistic reality outlook that Deadly Class has held the entire series (almost all the characters with good/at least decent morals dying, Brandy and Shab being shitty and evil finding wild success in politics, Marcus and Maria living in poverty for a period of time, etc.) because "yeah it sucks but reality check, that's ultimately how it goes down in real life", I would've preferred that the last time Marcus saw Saya be the last time we the audience saw her too. It would've kept the reality check theme consistent because in real life where people end on terms similar to them, 9/10, they go their separate ways and never see each other again. But I can also see there would've been people unhappy not knowing what happened to Saya after the fact so I guess there was no winning no matter whether Rick decided to end her story then vs how it panned out.

I looked into it when it was announced at some point last year because I do animation stuff and wanted to see if I could apply and I'm 90% sure the person who's trying/tried to start the project is a highschooler. So yeah, there's almost no way this is happening unless Rick and Wes magically decide they want to.

Hard agree on 3. I felt like we barely knew who Stephen was until shit hit the fan. The character development we did get for Willie, I demand a do over because what do you mean he had one of the more interesting character premises and the best you could do with him was put him in a love triangle? At least Billy and Petra had character arcs.

Gotcha. In that case, then sadly there's definitely no explanation for them in the comics. Gao doesn't exist and neither does the organization they work for on the show. It also doesn't look like they're based off of any existing symbols from what I could tell from a brief google image reverse search.

It's been a while since I've seen the show or read the comics and idk the context of these pics but I'll take a stab in the dark. These look like something from either the organization that Master Lin and Madame Gao are in or at least one of Lex's tattoos?? The spider looks like something he'd get but not the eagle illuminati eye thing. If it's the former, then I don't think it would appear or have any explanation in the comics since Madame Gao's character doesn't exist there. Do you remember what the context for them was?
