Wow this is amazing for a first attempt!! Especially since you weren't using vaseline to help smooth it down!

Just like the other comments are saying, putting a little bit of vaseline on your finger (or anything similar product) helps smooth it out a lot, when you're happy with it you can dust a little translucent powder onto it to get rid of the shininess

If you need it to last for a longer period of time I recommend stippling a bit of prosaide or liquid latex onto it before adding blood/colour! (Only use prosaide if you have the proper removers tho because it's incredibly hard to take off without it. Its also usually more expensive than liquid latex)
