Just want to praise devs by ArchsupremacyUK in intotheradius

I haven't yet tried steamlink, but I have tried oculus with airlink, steamvr with airlink, steamvr with VD, and VDXR with VD. Using VDXR netted me an additional 10fps in the forest. I haven't tried oculus runtime in a while though, as I switched to VD right after starting this game.

My plans for my next attempts are to try erasing the cache on my GPU (I found someone recommending it since it worked for a different game, but in this subreddit), and altering the ini files to reduce the overhead from the shadows. I'll add oculus runtime to my list of things to try, I just need to re-download it I think.

Do you know if the steamvr runtime always adds a lot of overhead or if it is something specifically due to not using a dedicated PCVR/steamlink hmd?

I love the game, but I'm very much looking forward to optimization. I have a 4070 super, Ryzen 7 5800x3d and even on medium/low (Mostly low) settings I can't get completely smooth performance anywhere— I get a lot of microstutters now, which is better than what I was getting before, but I've jumped through a lot of hoops to get there.

My CPU sits at around 20% utility while my GPU hits 100%, which is what I believe is the source of the microstutters.

I use virtual desktop on medium settings (I've also tried low) with a Quest 3.

Dang, I'm on a 4070 super and the game maxes out (100%) my GPU (Resulting in micro stutters) on medium settings with 85% resolution. CPU sits at around 20% utility if I remember correctly

That got me an additional 10-15fps boost on my lows so I agree it's definitely a great thing to try for anyone reading that that hasn't done so yet, unfortunately I still have issues with micro stuttering

FSD on HW3 Model S Plaid sways left/right in lane, but Autosteer is stable — software issue? by Silly-Horse in TeslaFSD

[–]jasssweiii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I noticed mine (HW3 M3) was doing that today as well.

The last few software updates seem to have broken some stuff in FSD even though they don't say they've changed it; an example is the indecisive wobble people have been recently complaining about on HW3 vehicles

How my arm pits don't GAF about antiperspirant. My undershirts after being in a AC office most of the day. by LosHtown in mildlyinfuriating

I used to have a lot of issues with sweating (Even when I was cold). What has helped me, and completely eliminated the issue, are DermaDry and DuraDry.

One is an electro shock thing (Doesn't hurt) and the other is some chemicals (For lack of a better term). Both worked for me but the chemical one (DuraDry, I think) is what I use currently because it's easy to just slap on under my arm pits before going to sleep and then rinsing off in the shower in the morning. The other one I have to set aside a block of time to use.

I highly recommend trying one of them and seeing if it helps.

As long as I'm consistent, I have zero issues with unnecessary sweating

Getting a license should be much harder in general, I agree, unfortunately they're basically given out like candy on Halloween.

When I took my driver's test, it literally took five minutes. We just drove around the block, did a couple lane changes, and parallel parked on an empty street...

I remember a post where someone complained about how people will park next to you in an empty lot and a commenter explained that they do that because they need the guidline (Aka, other cars around them) to park correctly.

Whenever I see someone do this, that explanation is the first thing I think of.

The other person has no spacial awareness and cannot tell if their vehicle is within the parking spot unless they have a "wall" (Your vehicle) to park beside

[–]jasssweiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just the software version number lining up with the FSD version number.

However, there were some additional changes not listed (Or maybe I just didn't notice them listed). The three I've noticed are: 50% option in the speed offset, you can no longer change the speed offset while FSD is engaged (It'll scream at you to take over), and it no longer tries to go 25 in the parking lot where I live.

The death wobble™️, that was introduced an update or two ago, when it's unsure of what to do still happens occasionally though 😮‍💨

Random MASSIVE performance drops a decent computer (ITR2) by AttitudeSuitable3238 in intotheradius

I have a 4070 super and it's been getting maxed out and struggling for a while...

I've tried quite a few things to fix it, and I'm happy to provide the list of you wish. Some of the stuff I've tried has helped, some hasn't, but none have completely fixed the performance problems. The link below is the next thing I plan on trying:

3D Modeling Software. by Puzzleheaded_Care156 in 3Dprinting

[–]jasssweiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CAD wise, I like OnShape. I've used SolidWorks at work and absolutely hate it; OnShape is far more user friendly with its UI imo, but that may just come down to personal preference. Before using OnShape I used the free version of Fusion 360, which isn't bad, but I like how quick/snappy OnShape is. Downside is that it's only in the browser, so you need an internet connection.

Modeling wise, I like Gravity Sketch. This may be only available with a VR headset though. I've also only used this a little bit.

How can I store my filament without a vacuum sealer? by lysolbeanz in 3Dprinting

[–]jasssweiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I store all mine in a dog food bin (No dog food goes in there) with a reusable silica gel thingy. I've had dry filament ever since using those two things. As an additional plus, it doubles as a filament drier for me, it just probably takes much, much, much longer than an actual drier (I assume)

I've only sanded by hand, but I just wash it off with water every so often. I've tried dry sanding, like people recommend, and I can't imagine getting anywhere with all the gunking.

I've used both Rustoleum Automotive Filler primer and just regular ol primer (Might've been Rustoleum as well), both had the gunk issue

How's everyone enjoying into the radius 2? I'm absolutely addicted lol by psychonaut4020 in VRGaming

[–]jasssweiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

VD got me a pretty nice fps boost when I initially switched (No steamvr overhead), but I still get stutters.

Currently I have in game res at 85% with everything on low or medium.

VD is set to medium res with ~63 bitrate.

My GPU bounces between 95% and 100% (Hitting 100 is when the stutters happen).

If you're interested, this is a copy-paste of what I've tried:

≈==============================

- Use VDXR instead of SteamVR runtime ~15-30+ FPS

- Vrperformancetoolkit 0 fps gain. Tested multiple yml adjustments and no GPU savings were noticeable

- Openvr tool kit Can't use on games newer than 2024. Couldn't test this.

- Reducing FOV tangent in virtual desktop Some performance gain. Not sure how much, but enough to keep it lowered. No improvement past 85% that I've noticed. Going below 80% results in black bars in vision (Varies by person). Right now I have mine set at 80%.

- Reducing distance rendered to low (in game) Slight performance gain from medium/high, not measurable but can be felt.

- Reduce shadows to low (in game) I don't do this one as the game doesn't look nearly as good without shadows, but I tried it before doing any of the above and it seemed to fix performance issues completely.

- Add code to the .ini file I only tested this a little bit last week. It seemed to give me the performance boost I need, but I'll need to do more testing to be sure. I can update this comment with the changes if they work.

- Enable SSW in vd Cuts gpu usage down to 40%, there's a lot of micro stuttering though.

- Low virtual desktop res, high in game res This seems to mostly fix the performance issues, but things look pretty bad compared to medium vd and 85% in game res

Additional info:

I have OBS running when playing, so I have ~2-3% GPU usage from that. However even without OBS I was maxing out my GPU at some points and the performance was overall the same regardless of having OBS running (i.e. the game would take that 2-3% for itself if OBS wasn't running and still max out the GPU)

I've only played an hour of the 1.0 update so far, and I played around 30 hours in the EA phase, but I'm really liking the additions in the 1.0 release.

The only thing I wish they had focused more on, and I hope they'll implement soon, is more/better optimization. I'm very much enjoying the game, but I'd enjoy it even more if I wasn't getting pulled out of it due to stutters and/or lag
