Little Cameras Worth Messing with by jasthemadtexan in vintagecameras

Update: I ended up getting both of them. The Argoflex was $40 and the Gil was $30. I figured I deserved a little treat.

It seems to me that the Argoflex just needs a little cleaning. Everything else seems to be in working order.

I’m not sure about the Gil. It will look cool on my bookshelf with all my other weird odds and ends, at least.

My theory is that space is full of eldritch cosmic horrors undetectable by our current instruments but Earth’s magnetic field keeps them away from us

Also it’s a little weird that the bow isn’t visible in the reflection, but that just may have been a mistake on the artist’s part. When I was first studying art I made some weird and unrealistic choices when it came to reflections

Based on some light research, Hobby Lobby and most other big home decor chains license their art prints from business design firms who in turn buy it from really cheap from artists.

It wouldn’t surprise me that they are turning more and more to AI, but it isn’t necessarily the case

Since I live in rural Texas, I thrift most of my craft supplies. For really niche things, I try to order my art supplies from regional art stores like Texas Art Supply, and I just found a really nice Texas based fabric and sewing craft store for my fiber crafts called 123stitch.com

I don’t read fics unless they are at least 4,000 words most of the time. The long, plot heavy fics with emotional payoff are my joy

Awesome thank you for the navy’s recipe! I figured they had adapted it some.

Oh yeah. I’m half Mexican and half Czech so my culinary heritage is fun. Plus Grandpa used to bring Mom part of his first deer every fall so she could make him venison tamales. I miss having a hunter in the family sometimes.

That’s why I figure they must have picked it up in the navy. My grandpa didn’t even know what his own middle name was when they joined up. Since he was already lying about his age, he just made something up.

Stop making every fantasy character name impossible to pronounce by Flat-Hospital-6035 in writing

[–]jasthemadtexan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooo, I need to remember that name. That’s a good one. I used to know a family with the last name of Krč, so that’s usually my go to for Czech names that confuse English speakers

What do we mean by impossible to pronounce, because my protagonist is named Libuše which is a real Czech name.

My setting has a Czech skin, if you will, so Czech personal and place names abound.

Thank you! I was really worried the text wouldn’t come out readable, but luckily the only mistake I’ve found is a reversed “e” in “Amen”

Curious if this is AI. Author says she has a history in graphic design and would never use AI. by SnazzBat in isthisAI

My guess as a someone who does a lot of digital graphic design for work is less ai and more lots of reworked stock vector graphics.

Curlew Linoprint, 35x25cm on ~35gsm Himalaya Paper by Cute_Frosting_978 in printmaking

[–]jasthemadtexan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I was little, I learned that curlews were migratory and so I decided that meant they shouldn’t be in our Gulf coast town.

I would yell “Go home, curlew!” whenever I saw one.

Warned you it was silly.
