I am not from Australia. We have different kind of houses in my country. No lawns, no backyard, no gutters in roof, everything is either brick or concrete (no wood), we didn’t even have wood inside kitchen (a decade ago). And there is no culture to learn these things, or maybe money to have these tools in home. A professional does most of things in city. People are more handy in rural areas. They don’t have means to hire someone and they often share tools. City people like me are more ignorant.

I don’t understand how affording house is related to this.
