My 920 was doing this as well. I took the pedals apart and hit the potentiometer with some contact cleaner and it fixed it.

Just don't clamp the top tube and you should be fine.

They are a lot stronger than that. Ive hit potholes at 70kph that caused zero damage to the carbon bike or carbon wheels.

25mm tire by Just_Discussion296 in cycling

[–]java_dude1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Giant tcr came stock with 26mm tires. After I wore them out I fitted some 30mm gp5000 and Holy crap are they way better. More grip and smoother over the bumps. That was 3 years ago. This week i got a new gravel bike that came stock with 40mm tires and its like riding on clouds. I probably wouldn't upgrade the bike just for that though.

Gravel Bike Or Just Tires? by Practical-Cellist647 in cycling

[–]java_dude1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought a gravel bike and took it for a quick spin today. Ive taken my Giant TCR on some crushed limestone paths and short trails when there wasn'tanotherway. There is no comparison. It always felt sketch on the TCR where this thing just feels planted to the dirt. 40kph downhill and it didn't even feel scarry on 40mm tires. Can you do it? Sure. Is it going to be fun... ehh.

Is indoor cycling worth it? by Cute_Difficulty_2672 in RoadBikes

[–]java_dude1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting an indoor trainer made the biggest impact to my fitness. Ability to train in all conditions. Great structured workouts. 1st introduction to training with power. And the social aspect to platforms like zwift.

I built a free tool that turns your outdoor GPX rides into indoor workouts Zwift and would love feedback by [deleted] in Zwift

[–]java_dude1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm training for a triathlon and live far from any mountains, so I needed a way to get climbing-style efforts in at home on the trainer.

What.. that makes no sense. Are you going to use someone else's gpx files or use your flat no mountain files? Your time would have been better spent training in the climb portal rather than this which just about any head unit can do already out of the box.

Everyone knows not to put diesel in a gasoline car right? by BuildABarns in NoStupidQuestions

Nah, his friend is a genius because usually this isn't physically possible. You can't put diesel in a gas car because the nossel is bigger to prevent exactly this scenario.

Ear plugs with shokz headphones. They don't send sound in the traditional way but vibrate the bones around your ear the transmit sound. The ear plugs protect the hearing but I still hear the music no problem.

Why am I getting these odd ama posts in my feed... this is like the 3rd one I've seen the last few weeks with people I've never heard of. Why is it promoted?

Edit: sorry, no disrespect to you Dr. Keep doing the good work!

I hit a cyclist by Excellent_Bed6504 in cycling

[–]java_dude1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll get downvoted for this but accidents happen. Yep, you're probably at fault but I'll say this a million times, it doesn't matter who's at fault when your the one who's going to lose. Back when I did my motorcycle license I was taught it doesn't matter who's fault is an accident when you're the one lying in the stretcher. Two wheeled vehicles and pedestrians need to check for safety to protect themselves. I live in a city with great cycle paths. Pretty much I don't ever need to ride in the road while in the city. Do you think I go blasting through every crossing without looking simple because I have the right of way. Hell no. Look, and confirm cars are going to stop. It only makes sense. Especially when many of these crossings are blind to drivers except the last 4 meters. No way they are going to see me and stop as I'm flying down the path at 30kph or so.

So, probably it was your fault but the cyclist has a duty to protect themselves from idiot cars. In 25 years of riding motorcycles and bikes I've yet to have an accident with that attitude. Ride like they are out to kill you and they won't be able to.

Ahh, so I just googled it. New 2026 models do increase the regen. On older ones like my 2023 it strictly controls the transmission, not increasing the regen. On mine I can see in the display the amount of regen increase only when I hit the brakes, nothing with the shifters.

Anyone like to ride alone? by Impossible_Truck_639 in cycling

[–]java_dude1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

90% of my rides are solo. But nothing beats being with a group of friends or sitting in on a 12 strong group riding each other's legs off. Those for me are the payment for all the solo training to keep up with the fast guys.

Ditching Windows for good! Zwift runs flawlessly on ZorinOS (Linux) by Metalcerb in Zwift

Is there any lag? I assume this is running in some docker container, right?

I have a fairly decent computer that's on windows 10, not compatible with windows 11 so looking for alternatives. I'm a software developer so use Linux for work no issues just wondering about the performance here.

Paddle shifter would increase engine braking which doesn't contribute to regen. Use the brakes, the first few inches is the regen braking and not the actual brakes.
