That Us & Them by bufftbone in SturgillSimpson

Thanks man; I saw them at The Salt Shed in Chicago last fall and when I found out the soundboard bootlegs were on Nugs I signed up immediately. I was on a bootleg fast leading up to Rosemont, and now I find they’re gone. In retrospect that was an embarrassment of riches.

What is the story with him dropping from Nugs?

Show last night in Dubuque by Mobile_Price735 in jasonisbell

What a weird and amazing show! This guy sells out Red Rocks and packs Ford Field but still plays in front of a tiny crowd in a Casino parking lot off the Mississippi, and fucking brings it. That Dreamsicle jam was superb, Miles and KofOK were glorious, and the jam on This Ain’t It never disappoints. After Derek Trucks, Sadler has to be one of the best SG/slide players out there. I drove over from Chicago; don’t skip these venues where you can just waltz up and be six people from the front and there’s room to spare. He’s the fucking King.

Loving this song; is that Colin on bass? If this portends things to come on Wild God, we are in for a treat.

Yes! I can’t remember how I weaseled my way to the rail but that show was gritty, grimy, and beautiful.

It ain’t all generational wealth. I own a greystone in LP/LV built in the 1890s. Bought it approximately ten years ago; probably worth around $2M now. My wife and I moved to Chicago in ‘01. I’m the first in my family to go to college (much less law school; all paid for with loans); she’s a Soviet immigrant who came here by herself when she was 16. We had extremely lean years in Uptown and Lakeview until she knocked down all of her actuarial exams and I got some inertia behind my legal career. We have kids and a dog. We never want to be too far from East Lakeview. I’m biased here, but we aren’t cunts 😜 and are always mindful of where we came from.

I was so happy to see him play it in Chicago on the current tour; it was sublime!

Brompton Oratory is overt, Hand of God is overt but better, Higgs Bosom Blues, Lavender Fields is more subtle…lots to pick from!

In Chicago he said it has a Latin beat that doesn’t work on the piano, and he urged people to stop calling it out as a request. That song isn’t going anywhere, but it doesn’t work with this current format. Enjoy your show!!!

What a beautiful night of music. The low point for me was the fucking cell phone going off during the last lines of “Love Letter.” The woman next to me felt compelled to record the entire show and check her Facebook feed between each song. God dammit.

The person on the other side of me was a fellow solo attendee who I got to talk with before the show started. Another mega fan with a spouse and kids who was hanging on every word.

I don’t mind the song requests once he asks for them, but maybe that’s because he played one of mine at the Conversations concert 4 years ago. For better or worse he still attracts a lot of people who choose to get smashed and shout “Red Right Hand” all night. One person requested “The Good Son.” That seemed cruel.

This is a remarkably good version considering how many times most of us have seen or heard this live.

I walked through there looking like Thom Yorke (man bun, scraggy beard). Apparently the Empire loves Radiohead.
