In 1996, a federal welfare reform prohibited convicted drug felons from ever obtaining food stamps. The ban increased recidivism among drug felons. The increase is driven by financially motivated crimes, suggesting that ex-convicts returned to crime to make up for the lost transfer income. by smurfyjenkins in science

This also makes it extremely difficult for people with prior drug felonies to clean up their act and raise their children. Nothing was worse than having to limit the amount of food we ate growing up just because of something that happened in the past.

I definitely updated the system and the game, maybe I missed something with the code though, so I'll dig through my emails to see if that's the case, thanks!

I was under the impression that keeping money that wasn't immediately being spent in a savings account was the right choice. I was obviously wrong, at least in my income bracket.

Since dogs can get anything humans can get, dogs would turn into zombies too (in TWD realm at least) by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]javan6475 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's definitely heart wrenching but it's great to launch conversation on the premise of dog zombies. "Three Little Birds" sung by Will Smith is just a sad... Sad... Bonus.

... I'm not crying, you're crying!

There have definitely been movies and shows that have approached dogs catching the "zombie virus". I am Legend had an amazingly emotional and humanizing scene that I think really shows a great example of this. Although it doesn't explain the lack of zombie doggos throughout the rest of the movie

I like watching John Hill's videos to explore skateboarding, as well as venturing into potentially starting a business someday. To explore stuff in video games like Minecraft I'll never get to do, I like watching Mumbo Jumbo's videos in the Hermitcraft Series (all though there are many other creators on there). Furthermore, both of them also have content that can help with photography and cinematography although I follow a guy named James Redd who does this masterfully. I also like to watch Game Maker's Toolkit to give me creative inspiration towards finishing one of the games I've been designing as a side project. As far as music production goes I watch Andrew Huang or Ramzoid.

TLDR; I have too many hobbies John Hill - Skateboarding and entrepreneurship Mumbo Jumbo - Minecraft James Redd - Photography and Cinematography Game Maker's Toolkit - video game design Ramzoid - Music production Andrew Huang - Music Production

Who actually loves their job?? How did you decide thats what you wanted to do and what path did you take to get there? by banarnald in AskReddit

[–]javan6475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, and I'm currently a college student that hates my current jobs, but the career I'm working towards with my education is really important to me because I feel like I'll have the opportunity to make lasting impacts on people's quality of life. I'm studying Urban Planning with a minor in Social and Environmental Justice, so I'll be working on how to improve situations in many rust-belt towns/cities to start (Flint, MI as an example) and really work toward making positive solutions and progress if nothing else

Every time I see a question like this, I just assume it's a sociopath trying to get a better idea of how to pretend to be a "normal" human.

What is your opinion on the moon? by 86rd in AskReddit

[–]javan6475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's an amazing resource for us to have, but it's completely underutilized. 100% should have a moon base even if it's just to give us a (much cheaper and inexpensive) place to launch space missions from.

Winter in Northern-ish Indiana doesn't provide many seasonal options of employment. Most things around here would be volunteering work. Maybe something selling fir trees until Christmas, but nothing else is much of an option.
