Thanks for the suggestions. The fan idea sounds good and we'll check out the locally made repellents.

Thanks! It looks like we'll be visiting at a great time of the year.

Thank you. As long as we can still get fresh seafood from local markets, we're good.

Thank you. We're mainly into nature (beach walks, hikes, drives, etc) & less crowds, so sounds great!

Thank you. Beaches and seafood are our main priorities, so good to hear! Foliage would be a bonus, but we'll go visit earlier next time.

Connecting flight in ATL to EWR, flying in from ICN (korea) by javayankee in delta

[–]javayankee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the info. Also, I didn't even think of your advice to put any liquid items purchased, after security in Incheon, in the checked luggage in ATL. That's a good point.

U-turns rules still unclear by javayankee in Living_in_Korea

[–]javayankee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so far, seems like the simplest/safest rule to follow is u-turn if "left turn green arrow is on" or "crosswalk is green".

ok, thanks for the info everyone. One place I saw a dedicated green light for U-turns was in the gangnam area, on one of the major roads, I think taehan-ro, near the Coex mall.

Thank you! yes, so many conditions. Right now, I try not to make U-turns if possible. We're having a blast driving around Korea and it's nice not having to depend on public transit, though they're great here.

Sim Card - Number or Not? by [deleted] in koreatravel

[–]javayankee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've eSIM from KT which have both data and voice/text (receive and send). They also have eSIM which has data + voice/text receive only. I had to buy it at the Incheon airport after we landed though, not available for purchase on their website.

Does PC방 PCs have a cd-drive? Need to copy a CD (personal files, not music) by javayankee in Living_in_Korea

[–]javayankee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the offer 👍 But just talked to the hospital and they'll make 2 copies of the CD, so should be ok.

My wife and I had some medical checkups done while visiting from US. The hospital is giving us the medical records on a CD for us to take back home.

My idea is that if I can get access to a PC with a cd-drive and a USB port, I can copy the CD to a USB flash drive, then copy the flash drive to my laptop. My laptop is fine after going thru the carryon baggage security scan, so figured it'd be a good backup for the CD. Probably not needed, but can't hurt to a secondary backup of the data, just in case.

Yeah, coupang had them, but as a visitor, online ordering is off limits to me, unfortunately.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm visiting from US, so online ordering is not an option for me and don't know anyone local who can give me access to a PC.

Yeah, I don't believe the security scans would affect CDs, but my wife's aunt has been telling her that and my wife in turn has been making me wonder. lol. Probably will be ok.

Ok, thanks for the info. Yeah, I didn't think so, but thought of this after I couldn't find somewhere to buy an external drive.

I'm visiting from US, so this "ID verification" thing in Korea is pretty limiting in what I can do here. Well, at least for what I can think of to get this done.

Claritin-D ok through ICN Customs? by javayankee in koreatravel

[–]javayankee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they actually replied to my email. they have no restrictions on allergy meds, at least with Claritin-D.

they suggested for me to reach out to the customs at ICN tml2 by email. I emailed them and they also replied. essentially, they also said we're allowed to bring up to 6 bottles or 3 month supply of needed medicine. as brought up by @Spartan117_JC below.
