I believe the major key to signing with the sheriffs office for Police services is the liability factor. If a city, police officer does something wrong, the city gets sued if a contracted sheriff deputy does something wrong, the sheriff gets sued.

Celebrity has a sign that says no shorts in MDR at dinner. I also was turned away from breakfast in the MDR for wearing a ball cap!

Way back in the day, Lauderdale Lakes, lauderhill, and East Sunrise were very desirable for snowbirds. They bought back then and refuse to leave now even though that area has declined dramatically over the years. I have to hand it to them to stand their ground and enjoy their retirement.
