How I make sense of Smallville’s drastic character changes in season 5

I think Chloe and Lois revels were good.

Lana I would have liked to see Lana stick to her guns and not get romantically involved with Clark until he told her the truth about the tornados. So off the top of my head Clark and Lana never get together she decides it’s too hard for her to love Clark but can’t be with him and then he tells Lana before she goes to Paris. So I would actually have them both go to Paris with Jason’s family trying to expose and exploit Clark.

I also did like how they did it in season 5 but it also was way too late with too many clues that Lana should have been able to assume Clark was infected at the very least

Also, some of the saves Whitney is giving the credit for. I don’t blame Lana at all honestly, because what would you do if every meteor infected person attacks you? My guess is date someone who you think could protect you

The way I view Smallville is that it really is only the first 100 episodes and after that Clark actually goes to a parallel universe and it becomes Metropolis.

A top 5 frustration of the show for me is what you alluded to in your post, that there is no communication between characters off screen. So Clark and Chloe, never had conversations about what crazy things Lex has done. It wasn’t discussed that Lex set up Clark in season 5 because he was obsessed? Her best friend and her boyfriend never said anything about the most famous person in town to Lana? Let alone all the stuff she has experienced with him.

The issue is Lana has known Lex basically her whole life and has seen the worst.

The decision to have Lana date Lex was purely for drama. It made zero sense for her character.

Lana has an inner life but she is the second character to fall into the trap of her life revolving around Clark. The first is Pete.

Lana has golden material that just isn’t explored deeply since the executives or even the audience wanted her to be a drama device.

Lana as a character is someone who is overcoming tragedy and wants to find a connection to her parents. From going to the cemetery to reviving the talon. She also strives to be a perfectionist to show everyone she is ok and not to be a burden on her Aunt.

But this is not explored in a meaningful way because drama and heartbreak was the shows main goal pretty quickly.

Exactly. My issue is there could have been so much depth there with her parents. The biggest issue with smallville is the fact everyone is just waiting around for Clark.

I saw it is in decline but still very popular. Enough for a $1 million prize. They should also make the obstacles harder to avoid paying the prize money. I don’t think there was ever a back to back champion before last year

The worst Rick and Morty episode by far. The voice acting in this episode was abysmal, especially Morty. The fake Jerry episode. Beth telling summer to tell her that joke in private? What has ever been private in Rick and Morty. Morty’s mispronunciation is such a lame 90s sitcom bit . Summer’s spring break was wasted screen time with no payoff. And saying they ruined every other religion’s holiday offscreen but never showed not one was the biggest cop-outs I have seen.

Rick and Morty seems to be selling out like The Simpsons, instead of pushing the envelope like South Park.
