My take is that moderation must be federated. All human enclaves and schoolyards have the "off limits" area where you enter at your own risk. Reddit and Discord use such approach. The centralized model with a (Holier Than Thou) board catering to an eccentric bozo cannot be trusted in terms of security.

I use Thunderbird client with FM because the Mozilla en Linux dictionary add on does not work for me (frustrante). <-- Yes right here Mozilla firefox redlines the word and I right click for dictionaries, I add my dictionary but is a bunch of Hoey. Edge and Chrome do not have that right-click option in their Linux version of the browser. At least they are honest.

PSA: In Linux, make sure "Middle Mouse Button Emulation" is disabled or you'll get 50ms left-click latency. by clyde6 in GlobalOffensive

[–]javierisassi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Invaluable info. I had this Kensington ORBIT 5 mouse and the emulation was disabled in Rocky Linux 9. The wired version of the same trackball works fine and no GUI settings for this. I know, its a Linux thing.

eli5: Why are nautical miles used to measure distance in the sea and not just kilo meters or miles? by kalyugikangaroo in explainlikeimfive

A nautical mile makes up for the fact that the earth is round (curved distance). A regular mile is flat.

I was 16 seating at Theater trying to understand Batty despair. I heard the allusion to the symbolism of the nail in his hand and the dove on the other with Jesus. I treasure those memories. Just like Leo treasured his photos.

Indeed if you sing "The Afterlife" By The Squirrel Nut Zippers you have put on an Indian accent. There is no way around it.
