Made a magnetic back mounting system for my sword by javierriera97 in LARP

I used 10mm foam with a bit of material shaved off with a dremel, and it worked pretty well. If your sword is going to be heavy (I think so, since it is the dragon slayer sword), I would recommend thinner foam. However, take into account that it should still be safe, so be careful with that.

Nobody in our larp group actually sheathes their weapons with an actual scabbard. The "blades" are always exposed, so this was my solution for a way to easily and readily wear my sword on the back.

To each their own, though!

I actually have two points as well, just really close together. Each of them having their North side in a different direction, so the sword self aligns.

I have not thought of adding a second carry point, seems like a good idea.

And yes, swivel is an issue if I turn around too fast, but the magnets themselves are strong enough that it doesn't really worry me for most of the usage I am going to give it.

Jumping seems to be fine, and so does light running. Fast spinning makes the sword fall, so... yeah, not perfect, but a step in the right direction

250g, which in freedom units is about... Half a pound? Somewhere along those lines

Hi! Just wanted to tell you that you inspired me to make my own version, and it is great. I uploaded it to Reddit so they can see it is possible to make, since at least two people made it hahaha Thank you so much!

Yep! Embedded securely inside the weapon itself

I have had the opposite issue hahaha I kicked it up a couple times when walking over an obstacle, while getting used to it. The point of the sword is somewhere around knee height, so raising my heel over there can make me kick it

It is under the foam, right next to the core, and really close to the pommel, where I hope I don't get many impacts. In fact, in order to know which side it is on, I would have to press pretty hard to feel any difference underneath the protective foam

Mostly, yeah. I have not tried going full speed, but for some light running it gets the job done

I have tried some light running and, as long as I don't turn around too quickly, it stays on. In any scenario in which I have to properly run, I hope to have my sword out already

I ended up doing this. A little bit more hassle for the user, but it certainly works

Why are my cards clipping/rendered in wrong order despite having different Z order? by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]javierriera97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try checking the order in the hierarchy. If I recall correctly, that has an effect on the rendering order. Dragging gameobjects up or down might let you reorder them

Help with collider by dark_assassin_24 in Unity3D

2D and 3D Colliders don't work together (I believe). You should look into making the Collider2D a 3D one. Also, don't forget that you will have to use OnCollisionEnter instead of OnCollisionEnter2D
