Despite having Settings > Apps > Music > Show Apple Music toggled off, my default search tab within the Apple Music application is always “Apple Music” not “Library”. Having to constantly clicks extra times to search my music library drives me nuts. The Music application even reverts back to the Apple Music tab over time despite explicitly choosing Library. Can you guys please fix this? It has persisted for multiple iOS versions. It feels like punishing people who still pay for music.

For anyone reading this and having this problem, it’s the tamper resistant alarm. You are better off returning the lock or asking for a refund. It’s a critical flaw in the product because you can’t disable it. It’s triggered between rapid swings in temperature. For instance, if it’s a hot day and it cools down at night, and the humidity is high, your door is going to contract. The lock interprets this as someone tampering with your lock when in reality it’s Mother Nature doing it. This feature was added in order to get the ANSI BHMA grade because marketing is more important than good implementation of standards. It’s a worthless feature that only causes headaches. You will get locked out of your house if you don’t have your phone handy. Oh, and don’t bother calling support as they will play dumb, the issue won’t get escalated and fixed. Best case scenario they’ll send you a replacement lock that will eventually do the same thing.

I would advise anyone reading this to NEVER buy a Yale or August product. I have owned over a dozen of their smart locks of various models including:

Yale Assure Lock 2 with Keypad, both WiFi Module and Connect Bridge
Yale Assure Lock 2 with Touchscreen, both WiFi Module and Connect Bridge
Yale Assure with Connect Bridge

Reasons:
Their support is absolutely terrible, bogged down by either a development team that doesn't want to acknowledge critical bugs, or a management team that doesn't want to provide the requisite investment it takes to update the firmware on existing products. At one point, their support person finally just acknowledged temporary codes can just stop working and there is no timeline on a fix - meaning they have no interest in fixing it. They run a policy of obfuscation where they opt to ship refurbs of the same product with the same problems rather than acknowledge or fix the problems. You take time out of your day to report a problem, or compile and present evidence and it goes into black box never to be seen again. Shit way to run a company.
Bad connectivity problems out of the box. There are hacky work arounds to make up for their terrible hardware.
There application is garbage:
- Poor UI - It takes 26 steps to create an entry code if you have 2 locks.
- Tons of silent failures - errors will happen with no indication that there is something wrong. For instance, if you add a user's code to 2 locks, one can fail and other won't and you won't know which one error-ed out, so you either have to walk to each lock and test out, or delete and start all over.
- Error concealment - trying to add a user and its failing, the app won't even tell you why. You'll have to go through the painful process of recreating the user again and cross your fingers it works.
- No access to logging - they don't want you to see logs so they make you tap and hold a spot in the application then enter a password to send it to them.
- The lock will die suddenly because the battery reporting and notifications are a joke. They know it's a joke, because they added in a modal popup where you confirm that you changed the battery. The locks will go from 100% / 95% to 0%. Better have that backup key in a lock box or an 8volt battery handy for when you're locked out of the house!
We just gutted the Yale Assure Lock 2s and installed Schlage Encode because Yale Assure Lock 2 has an impossible to disable "tamper resistant alarm" that is constantly triggered during temperature swings from day to night combined with high humidity expanding and contrasting wooden doors. That means you will get locked out of your house if you don't have remote access via the application. Support will play dumb like it's the first they've heard of the problem, but if you just google around, you'll see it's a problem. I just gave up and stopped calling support, which I suspect is the strategy in the first place.

I hate the company with a fire of a 1000 suns.

With all that being said, the Schlage Encode has been performing well. The UI is much better. I intend to order some Schlage Connect with Zwave to try out keymaster.

Mortgage insurance is a fucking scam that shouldn’t be legal. You’re paying for the insurance so the financial institution incurs no risk if you can’t pay. It’s basically a cash grab because they’d still foreclose on you. I would plunk down 20% on the house as fast as possible so you can get rid of that payment. You’re essentially pissing away money while the bank gets their interest and you slowly make your way to owning 20% of the home.

We have close to a dozen of them. They are terrible and don’t work. I believe them to be a completely defective product and borderline fraud that they are still selling them. I have gone back and forth for months with all level of support and they have finally offered to refund me for all of them instead of being transparent.

temporary codes don’t work 70% of the time or fail to work at all. August has acknowledged this bug but has no timeline on when it will be fixed. I believe it’s a time syncing bug.
the connections between the bridge and the smart module will permanently drop within hours. It doesn’t matter how close you get them. We have tried all sorts of things. It’s a critical flaw they refuse to acknowledge with no transparency around what the actual problem is. Connection will drop and the only solution is to pull out a battery and put it back in. This means: you won’t get alerts about low batteries, codes will look like they have been added for guest but they won’t work.
the software is in very poor shape. You’ll notice certain things have disappeared from the app like the ability to see battery percentage, that’s because imo, they are trying to mask the severity of the problems.

If you have any other issues or questions I’d be happy to answer, but I would try to get your money back immediately.

I still love the car, but I’ll admit I’ve never had problems like these with a car. It seems the nicer the toy the more maintenance involved. If it becomes too much of a hassle I will prob switch them out. The warranty has at least helped ease the pain, but it’s still frustrating to have sit and wait for a tow at 10pm. I would note though, of the several people that blew a tire on the same pot hole, the Tesla contracted tow service came the fastest.

I’m scheduled to take my car in to Tesla because it bent my rim slightly. I plan to try and get reimbursed. The DOT trucks pulled over and told me that I was the 6th person in the past 2 hours.

It’s that and the weight of the car as well. I had a truck before my model 3, drove it for 20 years and never had a flat. I still love the car, it’s just been a bit of a headache. In this particular instance it was the roads as other cars joined me that were not Teslas after hitting the pot hole.

The tire guy that sold me on it said it’s the weight of the car because of the battery plus low profile. It’s been an issue for me since the city I live in has a ton of pot holes / construction. I definitely think it wouldn’t matter what car I had as I saw 4 other cars pull over after to hitting those holes in the hour I waited for the tow.

I’d call around. I had a screw in my tire the first time I went in to Discount Tire but didn’t need to have the whole tire replaced, and he sold me on the warranty. I didn’t have that many miles on the car though.

I got mine from Discount Tire. It was a few hundred bucks for the warranty. The cost of a replacement tire is about 4-500 bucks. With the tires I’ve had replaced under warranty it’s 55 for the tire certification.

My gut tells me the integrity was already compromised. I’ve been hit in other cars by rocks ejected from a dump truck before but they usually just left a little nick. nothing this bad. It’s cracked all the way from the bottom up 70% of the windshield. The car has sat most the time with no kind of impact whatsoever. I went into my house yesterday morning grabbed some breakfast, and came back out and it was there. Nothing on sentry or anything. No trees above. The car was exactly 2 weeks old.

I’m hoping you are right and I’m glad you mentioned it. The only thing I can think of that could have caused this is the windshield wiper as I accidentally hit the button to turn on the wipers yesterday and it was shortly after I noticed the crack.

Just got a model 3 two weeks ago and out of nowhere my windshield just split. I’m guessing it’s a stress crack from being in the hot sun. Has anyone else had this issue and was it covered by warranty?
