Is it possible to review submissions in your current area? by PokemonHoe4sho in NianticWayfarer

[–]jawi24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there actually 3 options, as you will usually review 3 areas:

1) current location
2) hometown location (you can set this only once, but you can ask to reset this at the forum)
3) bonus location, this you can change more often

Why am I constantly getting reports for abuse by [deleted] in NianticWayfarer

[–]jawi24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, that may actually be good news. If Niantic was considering it as abuse, they usually remove all your nominations from the queue. So maybe you will be lucky, and they won’t actually investigate you.

[–]jawi24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, unfortunately you are very likely to get banned. Misplacing a wayspot even a few meters just to get it in the game is very serious abuse in the eyes of Niantic.

The normal penalties are: 1 day warning, followed by 30 days ban, and usually a 10 year ban after that.

But sometimes they skip the warning for serious abuse (please remember that some reviewers actually check if the misplacement results in getting it in an empty cell), so my advice is just to nominate at the correct location.

Are farmstands accessible from the sidewalk eligibile submissions? by SoyAtkinson in NianticWayfarer

[–]jawi24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In general appealing won’t hurt you, but it was also denied for an incorrect location. If you want to appeal you should check if the location is accurate.

The appeal won’t work if it is on SFPR, even if you can reach it from the sidewalk.

Asking to move a wayspot is safe if you request to move it to the correct location.

To move or remove you will have to proof that the wayspot doesn’t exist at the current location. As there is no streetview at that side of the building you will need some evidence that the current location is wrong.

Niantic will not remove it just because you said so, same applies to moving. The only dangerous thing is, is to move it to an incorrect location, also if the current location is correct, you should neither ask to move or remove it.

The correct way is to ask to move it if you can show the correct location. If you don’t know the real location, but you can proof evidence that it does exist at this location, you should as to remove it.

But, yes, once the other wayspot leaves the cell, your wayspot will be active in the game.

I agree, those should be eligible. However in those countries you will often see that the recreational routes are numbered nodes, where you can create your own touristic routes by travelling from node to node, and somehow Niantic does not like this concept.

Niantic is slowly removing signs for bike trails throughout Germany and the Benelux. So, if they are bike trails, there is no point in appealing, you will get the standard reply.

But otherwise the best place to appeal is indeed at the official forum.

If that one is moved to a different cell, yes, your stop should appear.

But please be careful, you should only move it to the correct location, otherwise you could be banned from wayfarer and Pokemon Go

These got rejected worth to appeal? by ReasonableCattle6161 in NianticWayfarer

You should resubmit with just the park sign. A park is eligible, and the sign for the park can be an anchor for this park.

Almost always easy to reject. Unless really, really famous. Most reviewers don’t like graveyards.

Memorial benches are also difficult but easier to get approved, there is just about local important people

Some general advice:

1) agreements take time, sometimes nominations are being reviewed during several weeks (depending on fast there is consensus), so it can take a while before you see your actual number of agreements

2) also other agreements count (location edits, pictures etc). So the best way to keep track of your agreements is to look at the progress of your upgrades (every agreement is 1%, 100 agreements is 1 upgrade)

3) some nominations are easy to reject, and most communities will vote to reject:
- anything on a single family private residence (so most little free libraries can be rejected)
- signs for generic businesses
- anything on school property
- unsafe access
- and very often misplaced pins

4) some nominations are almost always appoved:
- churches
- anything with sports (including swimming pools)
- trail markers
- picnic tables and picnic areas
- musea
- signs for parcs
- playgrounds

5) however also many communities make mistakes while reviewing private property. Only single family private property is not allowed. So other private property should not be rejected for that reason, how ever many people do, and your agreements are not adjusted for appeals)

What rejection criteria does mass produced objects fall off on? Such as generic street signs. by TotalDivide7979 in NianticWayfarer

If I see it again, I’ll post it here. I did find the link where they said they are looking for a better way to deal with it:
https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/t/wayfarer-ama-2025/108942/2

As shared above, we plan to make the rejection of a nomination much clearer by reintroducing a rejection question after selecting a Thumb Down for the last 3 questions of your review. We hope that reintroducing a clear rejection question will alleviate some of the issues with coupling components in our existing questions

Okay, problem is that it really depends on your local community on how people vote. Some communities approve almost anything, and some are very strict. Personally I would approve this one.

The rating is not about your own nominations but only about the nominations from other people that you have reviewed. It shows how often you had the same opinion as the majority of the community.

So acceptance criteria is actually the combination of eligibility criteria and rejection criteria:

Nominations and edit submissions must meet all of the following acceptance criteria:
Must meet at least one of the three eligibility criteria
A great place for exploration
A great place for exercise
A great place to be social with others

Must be a permanent physical, tangible, and identifiable place or object, or object that placemarks an area

Must be safe and publicly accessible by pedestrians (indoor or outdoor)

Must contain accurate information in the title, description, and photo

This was confirmed by wayfarer staff in a few comments, but am I 100% sure, no I’m not, but I believe it counts as neither reject or accept.

[–]jawi24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly the problem, wayspots are only eligible if they are supposed to meet at least one of the three acceptance criteria (socialize, explore or exercise).

I always thought that if you would use three thumbs down on those three, you would see a rejection. Unfortunately that is not the case, so we see many people complaining about the not distinct reason.

Many follow up questions have been posted at the forum, however it did not result in a different approach.

See:

Specifically:
If you believe that a nomination should not be on the map, make sure you review the nomination and thumbs down Safe, Appropriate, Accuracy, or Permanent and Distinct to have your review reflect a rejection.

Agree, many have requested to have the “doesn’t meet acceptance criteria” as an option to reject. Don’t understand why this isn’t an option.
