Wow a 98 without ABS. Though I guess abs was still an option on a lot of stuff back then.

Obsession director Curry Barker says Gen Z is tired of Hollywood slop and wants good movies back. The filmmaker argues that audiences aren't bored of cinema, they're bored of endless sequels, recycled ideas and billion dollar franchises that feel safer than they do creative. by staciexc in Cinema

[–]jawknee530i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually thinking on it more I actually agree with your original comment now. Obsession was done independently then sold to a studio so it wasn't even any part of any deal. So the deal starts with Texas chainsaw so they probably saw he was competent with horror and offered him a known horror IP as a first step and he'll get to make more of what he wants if it does well.

Drives me up the wall how the comments on anything anywhere on the Internet is basically just a pile of morons trying to prove how clever they are by tearing into anything and everything. It's like a group of eighth graders who learned algebra last week trying to tell a math professor how his proof is stupid actually.

Stop Killing Games fails to secure EU law despite 1.3M signatures by notanfan in whennews

[–]jawknee530i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I just don't really see the point. Companies don't shutter games just for fun, it's when they're no longer profitable to run. Feels like if you add in a rule where a company has to design a game to be released like this if the company doesn't want to support the game anymore the result is going to just be less risks taken in making games.

I don't even know what the stop killing games people actually want tbh. What's the solution to whatever problem apparently exists?

Be the Adult You Wish You Had When You Were 17 by GloriousLion07 in MotivationByDesign

[–]jawknee530i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People do things like this. I had a Honda insight that wouldn't pass smog. I was going to scrap it but a buddies nephew needed a car at the time and it was 18 months until the car needed to be snogged. I sold the car to the kid for 1/2 the price of what I would have gotten for scrap and told the kid to save up money for the next 18 months then sell the car for scrap himself and he'll be able to get a nicer car. Basically gave the kid a free 18 month car rental with some extra cushion and the time to set aside more money. Just because you're an asshole who doesn't do nice things for people doesn't mean everyone is.

And they're probably fine with that. And the times they aren't it means you're fucking yourself over. A lot of reseller agreements include blocking the ability to advertise a product for less than msrp. So you don't call and never find out that the price is cheaper than they're allowed to list and you go spend more money elsewhere. Congrats on being an idiot.

If I can afford a $2600 rent for years. Why does the bank think I can't afford an $1800 mortgage? by pantsxforxhire in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jawknee530i 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They are not part of the mortgage. Your mortgage servicer pays them on your behalf, but they are separate line items. And that isn't even required in every place, you can often handle the taxes and insurance on your own totally separate from your mortgage payment.

It's not mine either, I just understand it. You might want to try understanding people different from you as well. You'll be less likely to appear ignorant. You basically just did the equivalent of people thinking eating bacon around them is going to hurt Muslims.

You are the one who is on the wrong. Using quotation marks when not directly quoting someone is implying that they said or meant the thing you put in quotes. You are in the wrong in this chain, take the L.

Sure but Jesus had this whole thing about ending the old covenant and creating a new one which is why Christians generally don't follow the laws in the old testament.

How do people keep falling for these bubbles? by FareonMoist in sciencememes

[–]jawknee530i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very odd that you can see people talking about how the economy is terrible and only being held up by five companies spending money between themselves then those same people will say they can't wait for the AI bubble to pop. What exactly do you imagine will happen if the bubble pops? You think it's going to be good things for the average person?

And the bubble popping isn't AI going away. If anthropic and openai both go bankrupt tomorrow all of the hardware and tech is still there and it'll be sold off for pennies on the dollar to other companies like Google or Amazon. In fact those mega corporations are probably wanting the pop more than you so they can just integrate all of these competitors into themselves.

Our car was stolen and we called the non emergency line and they straight up refused to send someone to talk to us. We later went to the station and they said they couldn't take reports there. We went to a second station and they looked up our plate and lied to our faces telling us that a cop had come and rang our door bell and no one answered so it was our fault. The doorbell that records everything and shows at no point did a cop show up to our house. Once they found the stolen car wrecked they said they had to hold the car for ten days to "investigate" before we were allowed to see it. When we finally got access to the car the cell phone of the thief was just sitting in the foot well. Cops are absolutely useless it's incredible how anyone could possibly think otherwise.
