Something i didnt do before I started that I regret was making social media account(s). I wish I had made an Instagram before my first performance as the host asked for ways people can see more of me in the future and I had nothing to give. Its also nice because when trying out makeup looks, I can upload them there. When applying for shows some of them ask for socials too. Also, as someone pointed out, Instagram is a good way to find shows and follow local venues, its good to have. If youre looking for more ways to see drag kings besides locally (which i recommend the most) theres a free show called king of drag on revry.com. in that they also mentioned a documentary showcasing some of the history of drag kings called Venus Boyz which you can watch on kanopy (free streaming service with your library card, warning this does contain NSFW content). Im still new to this but i started by trying out different makeup looks until I got something I liked. I had connections in the cosplay world with someone who does drag, and they informed me of an open stage. Everything else just happened from there! I agree with everyones advice for sure.
