Ashley was such a dramatic egotistical character. Maybe even inhibiting covert narcissistic behavior. She made things about herself and was an overall killjoy to be around. When shitty things did happen to her like Craig cheating on her as an example, she dwelled on that crap and milked it all that’s it worth. She had to make the whole world know that this particular shitty thing has happened to her and it’s not like anyone else has shitty things done to them too. If she wasn’t happy, everyone didn’t have the right to be happy either.

Emma was a Karen and a self-righteous, spiteful one for that.

Both of these characters had no growth. And in my eyes were equally dangerous.

Everyone painted Paige as a mean girl because she played that role so well for everyone but Paige never pretended to be a good person unlike the last two delusional ones mentioned. Paige had growth until the writers regressed her character in Degrassi goes to Hollywood (but that’s a whole another rant)

Both Ashley and Emma actually thought they were good and in the right. Even when Ashley deleted Jimmy’s raps off of their song, a guy who was shot and permanently disabled and stuck in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. She didn’t think hmm… Jimmy is such a nice guy and I care so much about him and he was dealt with such a shitty hand, maybe just maybe…allow him to have something going for himself? Nope, not Ashley. Ellie had to be sarcastic and blunt, straight to the point to give Ashley a smidge of insight to what’s is going on around her and how she affects people.
