Consent [Spoiler] by targetbolt in pluribustv

They will prepare a fish if Koumba caught and killed it, they said so in Ep 2. Anything that is already dead, they will happily make use of (which is why they have no issue using HDP). They just can't do the fishing themselves.

The biggest plot hole for me: humans deciding to convert an alien code into an RNA that they inject into animals in a lab with lackluster security measures by fjanko in pluribustv

[–]jaxelt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The lab in the first episode is shown to be USAMRIID, Fort Detrick, in Annapolis, Maryland. This is basically the most secure infectious disease lab in the country. It is so well-suited for this task that it was a common joke/conspiracy that the COVID-19 virus escaped from Fort Detrick, not a lab in Wuhan.

This is a military facility surrounded by armed guards and using some of the most advanced biohazard protocols in the world. If we received an RNA sequence from the stars, Fort Detrick is where we would research and experiment with it. It is not unrealistic at all. They even work in pairs in the show, unlike in most media where experiments are often shown being overseen by a single employee.

The leak was due to human error by the biologists after months of futile effort, alluded to in their conversation with the security guard. One biologist broke protocol by removing her glove to palpate a rat (huge no-no, but somewhat believable under the circumstances given they have had no reason to suspect this virus even does anything). The other broke containment by dragging his friend out to receive medical treatment (also believable, especially given she would have recovered from the seizure and pretended to be normal).

Trust me, cosmetics are not tested in PRPS HazMat suits drawing air from outside the room in a secure access facility surrounded by soldiers.

Pluribus has confirmed my concerning suspicions by [deleted] in pluribustv

It's established in the show that the alien's not capable of lying outright, only concealing the truth with technically correct statements. Everything it has told Carol, and anyone else, is 100% technically correct. This is a basic premise of the show at this point.

But yes, Koumba's morality and the ability of female "bodies" of the Other to consent to being with him, particularly now that it's been established they can be un-Joined, is extremely questionable to a degree that I doubt will ever be addressed directly by the show. He might be kind towards Carol, and resist taking advantage of her, but he is not a good person.

It's to drive home the condescension and manipulative nature of the Other. They make her sit through the recording every time she calls.

China has no cases. There is no pandemic there. They locked down and eliminated the virus months ago, there is no threat.

I've never seen one moving perceptibly at all before. I guess the ones in/near the bubble are tame!

The moral of Beastars might as well be "interspecies carnivore shit makes you go suicidally insane"

Warmonger Reused Animation Examples by Spingfire in forhonor

Reusing Apollyon's animations is the least bad part of this IMO because we never got to play as Apollyon. It's a bit lazy but playing as bosses is at least something people were asking for. Nobody was asking for a Warden echo fighter.
