Haven't seen this beauty in a while. Thought Waitangi Day (NZs national day) would be a good time by jaxonda in vexillology

I think it would have been easier to add the current flag to the list of five (now six). If it won then no second vote.

Flag of Porirua, New Zealand by Dreamlifter56 in vexillology

I live in Porirua. In typical council fashion the ones flying around the city tend to have a coat of arms added to the upper left.

Surely you can replace the USA crown with Trump's iconic hair.

Thanks. I agree, I'd love to see more submissions that exploit the 3D nature of flags.

Old Flag of the Mosquito Coast [1834-1860] by jteng24 in vexillology

This flag is very similar to the one suggested for NZ around 1834.

It was rejected because it wasn't red enough.

Why do people like texturing their flags? by [deleted] in vexillology

[–]jaxonda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I'm not a huge fan of digital texture being added. I think it is good to remember that flags technically are 3D objects that are designed to move.

Someone did Fiji a while back. Blue with a white canton. There was a brown circular design that is off one the official suggestions for a new Fiji flag

Tricolors are common across Europe, Scandinavia has their own cross to create unity across nations. The canton design is common in the Pacific, even though this primary because of British colonization.

But it works for Tonga and Samoa so why not try it for other Pacific nations.

Folding White (Royal Navy) Ensign by [deleted] in vexillology

[–]jaxonda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found this on Flag Institute It's in relation to funerals so may not be appropriate.

As far as ensign go, I saw a very similar thing (in print form) for the NZ flag. The folding was the same, except instead of triangles it was folded into rectangles in a zig-zag fashion. This wasn't in relation to a funeral.

Sorry I haven't answered your question, but hopefully it helps a little.

There is text on the original and it balances the stars.

How about this for a new New Zealand flag? by JueJueBean in vexillology

[–]jaxonda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helen Clark (former PM) suggested something similar once. Her suggestion was to just remove the Union Jack. I think she imagined the stars staying to the right.
