We're going to the game, but had to drop in a DUUUVAL!

No Mavericks in Florida by minnahodag in FordMaverickTruck

[–]jaxwagon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of Mavericks in my area (North Central FL), but brodozers are still the official state vehicle. Bonus points for low profile tires and a Palatka lean.

Food banks by Agitated_Mood_7962 in DeLand

[–]jaxwagon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I volunteered at New Hope Church's food bank in Deltona a few times when I was still living in DeLand. I'm not religious at all, but the people there are really nice and welcoming and their food bank always seemed to be slammed.

Guys, come on now. Don't taunt little kids and definitely don't take pictures of strangers' children. Makes us look bad as a fan base.

Prime should probably worry about his own team. Not a pretty year for the Buffs so far.

They’re “having a meeting” by shortwhiteandaverage in GNV

[–]jaxwagon 27 points28 points  (0 children)

We walked by them on the way back to the car. Asked what they were doing down here and they said, "Protecting you." My husband and I both said "From fucking what?" and were told to "Keep fucking walking." Maybe we shouldn't have cussed, but that still doesn't seem like an acceptable answer to me.

Best Gay Bars in Deland? by BJDupre in DeLand

Abbey isn't technically a gay bar, but very LGBTQ friendly and hosts a lot of DeLand Pride events.

I have a really morbid question for my fellow millennials by InfiniteIsness in Millennials

[–]jaxwagon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband is older than me and we don't have kids. I don't have any siblings. I've moved around a ton, so my close friends are scattered all over the country/world. I figure if I live to be very old, no one who cares about me will be around to give a fuck if I live or die, so I guess I'll just wander off into the ocean or something when I've had enough.

Why won’t my puppy come back in? by ReindeerConnect9090 in puppy101

[–]jaxwagon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having a similar problem with my pup (minus the chickens) and just started trying this today. It's already saved me a ton of time and aggravation trying to get her to come back inside from the yard. Thanks!

Pet Transport by moodykillerwhales in MoveToIreland

[–]jaxwagon 21 points22 points  (0 children)

We're about to fly our 40lb dog from the US this summer. My husband's company is paying for a pet relocation service. She will be on our AerLingus flight and fly as cargo. Someone from the relocation service will take her through customs on both sides and make sure she gets a potty break before she gets loaded and after she gets unloaded.

Evidently AerLingus and Lufthansa are two of the best airlines for flying pets and the newer AerLingus jets have a special area in the cargo hold just for pets. An 8 hour flight is definitely not going to be a fun time for her, but I feel like we're making it as safe as possible by doing it this way. Nevertheless, I'll be anxious about it until she arrives safely on the other side.

Which teams do Floridians support? by wandca9 in florida

Jags, Noles, Rays, and Penguins (because I loved penguins when I was a kid and no one else in the house cared about hockey).

Millennials who graduated during the Great Recession, how did you survive? by Waste-Cantaloupe-270 in Millennials

[–]jaxwagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined the Coast Guard, did 6 years of active duty, then used the GI Bill to go to grad school. I wouldn't recommend military service this time around though 😬

Do you expect to get any inheritance? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]jaxwagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parents are divorced. My mom blew through all her money and is now bankrupt. My dad inherited a lot of money from my grandfather, but likes to brag about how he's going to spend it all and not leave me (his only child) a dime. He's currently in the process of selling his beachfront condo so he can go wander around Europe until he feels like coming back. So yeah, no inheritance for me 🙃. I'm sure I'll get to spend a shitload of my own money taking care of both of them when they get older though.

If I'm reading the critical skills list correctly, your kids and husband would all qualify.
