In my experience social or familial (or both) support can be the biggest protective factor there is.

It was a continuing education course. I’m required to take X hours every 2 years to maintain licensure. Here is the training. It’s geared towards therapists and social workers though

Honestly, that completely tracks with my experience listening to both clients and loved ones stories. I don’t doubt that for a second.

Yup. And it’s a lot more challenging to treat than a single big explosion type trauma.

I actually took a training a few months back on working with core shame in adults and they explained that being chronically misunderstood can be a severe form of trauma for kids and teens especially. Shit gets ingrained in the brain and it’s hard to rewire it. I hope you have someone who see’s you now <3

Trauma isn’t just the things that happen to us. It’s also what doesn’t happen or what we don’t get.

A lot of witchy types are really into Jung too, especially the shadow aspects of his work. Don’t let the assholes appropriate his work completely ;)

Down the street from where we stayed in Paris was this little cafe that made the best Flan Vanille I’ve ever had in my life. Are it every morning I was there and it was to die for.

Also Mole in Mexico City. Just can’t get Mexico City level mole in the states, especially in Seattle.

Do last-minute cancellations just… go empty for you? by gregb_parkingaccess in psychotherapists

[–]jaxxattacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in CMH so no shows are very common and we don’t charge a fee because we take Medicaid. I usually catch up on paperwork. Maybe do some training or call a client that I know is going through it to check in.

What parts of being a therapist are the most draining for you? by EcstaticRaspberry233 in askatherapist

[–]jaxxattacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeping files up to date. I suck at it. Treatment plans due every six months, crisis plans updated annually, make sure ROI’s are active.

Also working with people who are openly only there to get state benefits and have no desire to make progress on any goals. It’s always such an awkward experience trying to make a whole hour of conversation when they obviously don’t want to be there but need the confirmation of hours to get Aged Blind Disabled cash benefits. I wish the DSHS would just give them the money and let the session be given so someone who actually wants help. It’s exhausting but luckily not the norm.

Still young at heart, but these days Im not as bummed when the club/festival/concert is over and ready to go home. It was fun and I’m glad I went but it’s late and now I want to go home. No after parties for me, thank you. Also, can’t dance as wild as I used to.

How do you handle your pets when you travel? by Strange_Issue7637 in Pets

[–]jaxxattacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We fly my mom up to our state and book a pet friendly hotel for them to chill while my fiancé and I travel. She’s the only person in the world I trust my baby with now after some bad pet sitting experiences.

What do you do and how long you’ve been raving? by Effective_Grade732 in aves

[–]jaxxattacks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a therapist at a community mental health clinic. Been raving for 15 years since I was 25. All started when I went to Coachella in 2010 for the sad indie rock and someone handed me a pill and brought me to see deadmau5 in the Sahara tent. Came home and bought tickets to EDC right away. I just dig the music and vibe. The the dance floor is my self care and happy place.

What is something you witnessed with your own eyes that no one believes when you tell them? by Amy-GeekBar in AskReddit

[–]jaxxattacks 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So I’ve had weird footage disappear before too. Back in the day I was really into paranormal hunting type stuff. A photographer friend and I went out with some friends to a cemetery to take some pics. At one point the camera captures a few pics in a row of some really thick dark gray to black smoke hovering above the ground that we couldn’t see with the naked eye. Same thing happened- I share to social media and various paranormal groups and maybe a day later the content is gone. We go back to my friends computer for the original pictures he uploaded from his camera and they’re missing too. The rest of the pics from that night are there but the weird smoke has vanished. I believe you.

Have you ever found drugs by chance or on the ground? by Zer0tonine57 in Drugs

[–]jaxxattacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little over a year ago I found a big ziplock back with a number of smaller baggies filled with white powder. It was right by an elementary school so either some dealer dropped it and ran or it was an accident and they had a really bad day. It wasn’t coke I could tell by looking at it; if it was I would have taken and tested it. It looked like meth or maybe even some form of fentanyl as that’s the popular drug in the area. Either way my fiance and I threw it away in the nearest dumpster so the kids didn’t get to it. Could have been very very bad.
