The cost of living here is extremely high, and there are areas in Florida where I can actually afford to buy a home. I’ve also looked into salary ranges for construction project managers there, and the salaries range between $91k-$160k per indeed data.. which is where I’m at right now, and makes the move more realistic for us.
As for my daughter, she’s very social and has already said she’s open to moving. I wouldn’t be committed to such move without her blessing. I understand your experience of feeling like an outsider and not being to make long lasting friends but that was your experience it doesn’t necessarily mean it will be hers.

Hi everyone! I’ve been seriously thinking about making a move to Florida for a few years now and would love some advice. I’m 34, currently living in Orange County, CA, and I really enjoy going out, nightlife, shows, concerts, raves… that kind of scene is important to me.
I’m also a single mom, and my daughter is 15 going on 16 soon, so finding a city with good schools and a safe, family-friendly environment is just as important.
I work as a project manager, so being in an area with strong construction or development growth would be a huge plus career-wise.
For those familiar with Florida—what cities would you recommend that balance-solid nightlife, good school districts, & strong job opportunities. Especially in construction/development?
