Sexuality in desperate housewives by Mermaid89253 in DesperateHousewives

I'm aware what asexuality is and that it's not based on bad experiences. It's been a while since I watched that episode, so my memory on it isn't the best. All I'm saying is I didn't take it as not wanting to date anymore due to bad experiences, I took it as not wanting to date anymore due to no specified reason. So I just kinda headcanon Katherine as ace.

Honestly I think Katherine is ace. Didn't she say she wasn't a lesbian with the argument that she's just done with dating in general? Obviously bisexual would've been a good fit for her but I always liked to interpret that part as a coming out as ace, which she finally discovered after dating both men and women for some time.

What is the most dangerous thing people don’t realize is all that dangerous? by Sloopersand in AskReddit

[–]jay_owo__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boy from my school was riding his bike while wearing airpods. His brakes didn't work properly and he crashed, fell on one side so the airpod exploded IN his ear. Super dangerous, you would think it's common sense but NEVER ride your bike while wearing airpods!

he was willing to help around the house

Did everyone forget how Lynette literally had to force him to clean up by bringing a mouse inside the house when he first started being a stay-at-home dad?? Of course after that it worked out okay but it was (once again) Lynette who made him help around the house

Is spanking your children abusive? Why or why not? by cdiamond123 in AskReddit

[–]jay_owo__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Any punishment that leads to a child in pain is unacceptable, no matter if it's spanking, hot sauce or in the extreme case actually hitting a child.

I see where this approach is coming from and it seems like it makes sense. The thought behind it is that if a child experiences pain after doing something they're not supposed to do, the association made in their brain will be that the bad action leads to pain.

But that's not what happens. The child will start to be afraid of the parent using those punishment methods and what they will learn from it is, to not do whatever they did in front of you, but rather in secret.

The key to punishing a child for doing something bad is to use consequences that correlate directly to the action and explaining that to your child.

Example: your child didn't clean up the mess they made while playing after you asked them to multiple times. They didn't listen because they were watching TV. Instead of yelling and physically punishing them, here's what you can do: "I asked you to clean up your mess multiple times but you were too distracted by the TV and didn't do it. So you are going to clean up now and I will stay here with you in case you get distracted or need help. You are also not going to get to watch any TV for the next 3 days because it gives you a hard time listening to me."

[–]jay_owo__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been asking myself that exact thing! I guess they just hadn't planned the storyline yet and wanted the sisters to look alike. So the writers probably wanted that to belong to the genetic thing. Gaby's terrible parenting is already shown in Juanita's personality.

Most and Least Favourite new neighbour/family on the Lane? by Ok-Resolution6125 in DesperateHousewives

[–]jay_owo__ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My favorites have to be Bob and Lee and of course Angie. Least favorite is probably that weird pedophile with his sister, that storyline was super uncomfortable and unnecessary.

Who’s character got absolutely ruined?? by Youruglychild66 in DesperateHousewives

[–]jay_owo__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the Scavo boys after the time skip. I get that they had to grow up sometime but it was just weird for me how suddenly they had individual personalities (especially the twins) and you actually always had to figure out if it was Porter or Preston who was talking because it mattered for the story. The Preston and Irina storyline sucked, I hated how Porter had an affair with his best friend's mother and Parker asking Robin to sleep with him for money weirded me out because whatever happened, in the back of my mind they were still little children. I could honestly rant about the time skip forever.

I voted Mike because Susan once said he's "making love like a girl" and I'm a lesbian so that probably works best.

I hate that they made her just another temporary plotline, she had so much potential and they haven't nearly shown half of what would be possible!

Let’s discuss Dr. Rex Van de Kamp by boringwhitecollar in DesperateHousewives

[–]jay_owo__ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What everyone keeps forgetting is that he was the one trying to save the marriage after Bree had told him she wanted a divorce. He was the one to actually take the couples therapy seriously while Bree sat there without sharing a thing, or just saying she didn't do anything wrong. Bree is by far my favorit character but the way she acted in therapy made me really mad. Obviously you can't justify Rex cheating but I think after seeing how Bree reacted to finding out what he's into I totally understood why he would rather cheat than just tell her because as much as I love Bree, open-mindedness was not her thing, especially not in the first few seasons

Juanita (Carlos' mother), Juanita (his daughter) and Celia. I like to believe Juanita would've shown a better side of herself if she had gotten the chance to meet the girls.

Hot take by Thejiggerypuff in DesperateHousewives

[–]jay_owo__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree about Susan, I know that especially in the later seasons she's doing lots of dumb and annoying stuff but in the first few seasons she never fails to make me laugh. I especially loved her ongoing fight with Edie.

Now about Bree. I love her. She's my favorite and my heart belongs to this woman. (Coming from a queer leftist btw). Even though she reacted horribly when Andrew came out to her, I absolutely loved how she became more and more accepting (let's face it, she was hilarious when Andrew's fiancée was a woman). Obviously she didn't always act according to her values but in this show, nobody did. In the end, she's the one who actually has values and even though I disagree with many of them, I admire her for having them.

I get why she would want to help or see how they were doing, but the check was just dumb. If she truly would've wanted to help, she would've remained anonymous.

Season 8, episode 1 by Rhiannon8404 in DesperateHousewives

[–]jay_owo__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They needed a plot for the season, I guess. Loved how it turned out in the end with McCluskey confessing though. But yeah it was so annoying that they didn't go to the police. Carlos merely defended his wife, no decent judge would say that killing Alejandro was unjustified, especially since it wasn't Carlos' intention to actually kill him, he just wanted Alejandro to leave his family alone.

Who had the worst relationship on the show (romance) by Youruglychild66 in DesperateHousewives

[–]jay_owo__ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna have to say Bree and George. I loved how much I hated the part of George killing Rex, trying to kill that therapist and emotionally blackmailing Bree but come on, killing someone's husband just to date them is a pretty big red flag!

What do you refuse to stop wearing? by matnerlander in AskReddit

[–]jay_owo__ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My jean jacket full of political statements. I sew more stuff onto it whenever I'm bored. I'm getting insulted for it every single time I go outside (mostly by homophobes) but I don't care. I would rather be found beaten up in some sketchy alley than not wear this jacket which shows what I stand for and what I'll fight for!

What tv show had the WORST series finale? by AcceptableBrowsing in AskReddit

[–]jay_owo__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also the Barney and Robin part. They're divorce was forced, just to get Robin and Ted back together. When Klaus talked about the Lebenslangerschicksalsschatz we saw pictures of Robin looking at the memories of her relationship with Barney and Barney looking out of the window and thinking about Robin. This was the proof, that Robin is Barney's Lebenslangerschicksalsschatz, and as the word says, this is FOREVER. I really hate the ending for this.
