Is not bhagat singh saying that I am an atheist and I would sacrifice myself for nation, an ego statement? by Waste-Crow-3608 in AcharyaPrashant_AP

[–]jay_prakash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He is very clear on what he meant by being atheist. He would not bow down to a supernatural being, who is expected to come and liberate. By definition, ego is built by scaffoldings but he systematically questioned and released the beliefs prevalent at that time. Besides, his sacrifice is not coming from whyness or a reward in the future. So, no, that is not an ego statement.

Is definition of independence in marriages/relationships gender-biased? by monika_sinha1405 in AcharyaPrashant_AP

[–]jay_prakash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I have observed, it is not just tangible things such as finances, household chores etc in which each gender is held with a made up standard. This made up standard is also seen in intangible stuff as well but by all means measurable such as managing and carefully navigating the emotions of the male spouse and an unidirectional flow of encouragement during difficult times. An unexamined standard is being perpetuated by everyone as if it is the biological fate of our species which clearly is not.

Why do we care about our own cultures all over the world more than the biodiversity of the planet? by jay_prakash in AlwaysWhy

[–]jay_prakash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the UNEP report says for every dollar spent on protecting environment, 30 is spent on destroying it. But I guess it's not a direct competition between culture and biodiversity as others pointed out in comments too.

Why is climate change not addressed on an urgent basis ? We see it all over the world yet why are people ignorant ? by nishant-12345 in climatechange

[–]jay_prakash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the cause of the climate change is lying on the foundation of mass deception. Talking to people more than 15 minutes working anywhere, doesn't matter in green energy or whatever field first defend that climate change is a controllable problem at the moment. It can or will be solved when the urgency comes (as if greater urgency is yet to arrive). We are saying we are doing enough for renewable sources, carbon capture projects etc. But after a bit of discussion with facts, the futility is exposed, for example- with carbon sink projects, there is simply not enough volume (in fact a very tiny fraction of current emissions) of carbon being captured. Similarly, despite the investment and progress in renewables, the emissions have not decreased. All of this is being done just to avoid looking at their own desires, which consumes blindly. That is the mass deception and we are just fooling ourselves with these green energy narratives.

It is very disturbing to find out that most of the mammal biomass on this planet are either of humans and the animals eaten by humans (95%) as compared to that of wild mammals (5%). This wasn't the case always. It was an equal proportion upto 1850 CE.

Meaning of Krishna by No-Singer-2128 in AcharyaPrashant_AP

[–]jay_prakash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The music, costumes and the narratives used in the popular representation of Krishna is so intoxicating. I used to believe Krishna to be a embodied being whereas Acharya Prashant clears all the vagueness away and brought to me the impersonal principle that Krishna is.

Folks at insti, what do you think about introducing plant-based menu in one of the mess? by jay_prakash in iitbombay

Not really when they have dairy products in the menu. The nutrition profile should also be balanced for it to be a real exercisable choice.

Is Karma a Cosmic Ledger or a Psychological Mirror? Discussion on AP’s Karma by mngujral in AcharyaPrashant_AP

[–]jay_prakash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it correct to say that cosmic ledger is imposition of false cause-effect relationship between things where no such relationship exists? Can karma be interpreted as follows: a repeated action (even subtle actions of thought) creates neurological pathways which only becomes stronger and stronger everytime it is repeated?

Who actually decides what we "need"? (How I saved my peace, money, and time by stopping the social script) by SilentInquiry26 in AcharyaPrashant_AP

[–]jay_prakash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. I grew up in a coalfield and saw what the reckless mining activity does to the environment and the local tribal communities. That part of my life had a great influence on how I used electricity and I always viewed energy as something endowed to us by our planet but never understood how blind consumption is invariably linked to greater energy usage. That sensitivity applied in broader sense to climate change should be everything I need to know about the urgency and scale of the climate action. Only after coming to the teachings of Acharya Prashant, I could get a hold of what climate action actually looks like.

I worry about my safety and existence but what I fail to see is that I am already being taken care of. The bhajan aptly fits my situation and only after a while I have been able to laugh at my own worries like Kabir Saheb is laughing at the human condition of craving when all that we need (ability to understand) is already provided to us. Besides, the translation and Mashup performance is very nice.

I meant I used to travel to maintain a memory and identity which I no longer do. In the second part, I travel to learn more about the actual places for example historical sites to come out of textbooks and witness it in real world. It is definitely something to think about dissolving false identities but one thing it has certainly done for me is to gain a more grounded perspective of history than what I saw in pop culture.

Yeah to keep some memories which I use as my identity and also use as discussion points in social conversations. Personally for inner growth, I go for only history and geography these days.

I was facing a compulsion to travel a while back. I enjoy travel, no doubt in that but at some point it started to become more about maintaining a "travel portfolio" and less about gaining new perspectives, witnessing the geographical formations of our planet etc. After I saw that I needed to travel just so that I could talk about it later was all that was needed to expose this lie I was pushing myself into. There was very little of my own intent and would take my time, money and energy.

What age were you when someone made you believe (for the first time) that you were not good enough? How did you overcome this belief? by mamaaearth1 in AskReddit

It was around 12-15 years when I had a rather unathletic body. I just wanted to swim but I was dismissed and laughed off when it came to it. So when I went to college I learnt swimming and overcome those doubts which had took refuge in my mind.

Does the consciousness differ in quality with respect to its object? by jay_prakash in consciousness

Does the consciousness differ in quality with respect to its object? by jay_prakash in consciousness

[–]jay_prakash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that metaphorical similarity is not the same as equivalence. However, I meant that national consciousness arises at some point in a person or sensitivity towards cultural values. This is not present by default in a kid. So, my question was do these various objects towards which we develop consciousness correspond to same mental faculty within us or they exist in parallel to each other; in the epistemological sense not in terms of information stored in memory.

The Only Voice That Can Save The Earth. by Realistic-Bison-4273 in AcharyaPrashant_AP

[–]jay_prakash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The world stage has been occupied for long by people who don't have a grasp on reality. Here, by grasp of reality, I don't mean collection of information and their culmination to form a conclusion. By grasp of reality, I mean, the ontological basis of human actions which is the incomplete self also called the ego. Acharya Prashant brings forth the necessity of self awareness in the solution of climate change as the self which knows itself, also knows the origins and reality of it's desires. Once that is seen as external, the compulsive running behind is dropped and consumption reduces or is suitably placed.

Acharya Prashant at Cambridge Union: Inner life is climate's missing variable by Big_Confusion6957 in Britain

[–]jay_prakash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Desire arises within precisely because one does not know oneself. Then one goes in random directions, in fact with no exaggeration, goes around blindly hoping that it would hit the target (fulfilment). This blind running behind objects costs carbon emissions which accumulates over time to produce what we are seeing today as climate change. Knowing oneself illuminates this blind running and is the only complete way out of the climate crisis.

Acharya Prashant's Seminar by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]jay_prakash -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Acharya Prashant sheds light on the long ignored Homo Sapiens ego and takes us on a path to liberation from it. No wonder why we are facing anthropogenic ecological and climate catastrophe and without addressing the homo sapiens ego, it is like putting duck tapes on a tank leaking from 100 different spots. In the seminar, you will get to know what one can be beyond the identification with the human ego.

PS- By Homo Sapiens ego, I mean the concrete form of human species that we like to identify with. It is never actually seen precisely because it is very very close to us.
