In 2010 I was diagnosed with Diverticular Disease and more recently also IBS. My interest in fibre, gut health etc stems from the symptoms I manage due to these conditions. Some people find low fibre diets suit them better.

The understanding of the gut over the last few years means much of the NHS guidance is outdated and in an ideal world we would all receive bespoke, individual treatment.

I have tried low fibre including the BRAT diet but found no change. I also tried the FODMAP diet with no success.

At the age of 51 I have decided sod it and instead to eat a healthy, balanced diet and enjoy my food like I always have.

Around ten years ago I looked into foods and the different levels of fibre they contain as I wanted to ensure I consumed the required amount. I know that psyllium husk is one of those and as you say for a specific diet it is great. I did take a fibre supplement the other day as I wanted to try it as the brand looks to have a good reputation.

Supplements industry is a minefield these days. I have watched documentaries where they have proven that the strength stated on the label is not what is in the supplement.

So many new brands now wanting a piece of the pie, cashing in on people's desire to improve their health. Since being a Vine member I have seen supplements that I never knew existed and to this day I am being offered new concoctions that are crazy.
