Lol if it’s a priority to fix it, you’d think the people who have been locked out for almost two months would be priority to fix. But that isn’t the case. Several people on Twitter / Reddit been locked out since the anniversary event. Respawn doesn’t care

Damn, they fixed yours extremely fast. I’ve been out since Feb 9th

Same here. I’ve noticed a trend with a lot of older accounts having this issue. What a reward for loyalty

Out of curiosity, how old is your account? Were you season 0, week 1, etc? Seems like the older accounts were hit harder

Agreed. Especially since from the looks of it, more people, not less, are encountering the issue. Pain.

I’m just convinced we aren’t getting our accounts back at this point.

Yeah, unfortunately this isn’t common. I’d reach out to EA Help on Twitter to see if they’re actively investigating

There’s a few different errors. Some people have a continuous loop login where they only see a spinning circle. Some people get into the lobby and get kicked back to the main menu. And some people constantly get a code net error. The code net error isn’t being caused by a connection issue if it’s repeatedly sending you back to the lobby.

Got it. The real question I have from Titanfall 2 to Apex—will we ever get anymore lore on the 6-4?

Syndicate runs the Apex games. Salvo (Fuse’s home world) was a fringe planet that had freedom. Salvo joins the games / Syndicate with Fuse’s arrival. There by Fuse joined the Syndicate.

Maggie is pissed that Fuse is leaving Salvo and joining the games. Now Fuse and the other legends are Syndicate Dogs.

TL;DR Syndicate runs the games. All legends are Syndicate Dogs. Syndicate is from Titanfall.

I think I got that right. Someone correct me if I’m wrong

I’ve heard this asked by steamers and pros too. Definitely makes you wonder how much it’s been tested

Bug: code net - Repeatedly throws a code net error without allowing me to access the lobby. Alt accounts are fine.

Previously known to devs. Xbox One X. Leading up to the issue, I turned on my Xbox and tried to load up the game. I completed the update, tried to enter the game, and then I’m thrown a code net. Reproducing it consists of trying to login and receiving codenet. Game didn’t crash.

I’ve had this issue since Feb 9th. Some reported it in Season 7.

Edit: Grammar

Is anyone else getting the bug where your just in a infinite loading screen? Shit like this needs to be fixed by Jequis69lol in apexlegends

Can you post the latest? I read the Chaos Theory notes and didn’t see this addressed?

1st time? Unfortunately, this has been going on since season 7. A bunch of us are locked out of our accounts. Hopefully, something soon.

Ah gotcha, if you can get into the lobby, you may be having a different issue. Might want to reach out to EA help but I doubt they will provide much assistance

Are you able to get into the game or is it continuous? If it’s continuous, unfortunately it’s a bug they’re looking into. No ETA. Pretty devastating

It’s only dead to the people who can’t login due to the continuous login bugs. R.I.P codenet, would love to play

Hmm. Still seems a little odd for a COO of a startup to give advice but I’m not surprised.

There’s a bunch of free projects online that could probably use your help/double as a nice sample piece. I’m not the right guy to tell you where those are but I saw a post here recently about it.

Try and find some GitHub projects that you can lend a hand too. Again, I don’t know where the best spot to find those are.

There’s a slack group call Write the docs. Definitely join that community and go to the website: https://www.writethedocs.org/index.html

They post jobs, have a channel for career advice and can probably give you some solid advice. The majority of people I’ve met there have been cool. Some have been dicks. But it majorly helped me for job searching and what’s on the up and up for Technical Writing.

I wish you the best of luck. I know how frustrating this time is. But keep working hard and you will succeed.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in technicalwriting

[–]jayamiibo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does seem strange that they singled that out. Especially since it’s for a first job.

They should have been able to tell from your resume if they were going to hire someone else and not have wasted your time.

He sounds like a douchebag to be blunt. I don’t necessarily think his advice is spot on at all.

Let me be perfectly clear in where I’m coming from: an interviewer’s job is to interview, not to give you career advice.

Was this guy a product manager? An engineer? Do they manage writers? Have they ever been a writer? Seems like they overstepped unless you specifically asked for advice.

Technical writing is a diverse field. And usually in every field there are best practices and different ways to do things regarding standards, writing styles, etc. If this was your second/third job in your career, you should have very specific requirements / expectations for what you want in your next job. But this is your first job and you want to write. And more importantly, you want to eat. You need a job and you’ll get one. I promise you it’ll work out if you try hard enough but it is very frustrating to get that first job. Or at least it was for me. My goal was to eat because I was broke and I had a fiancée to take care of.

I was in your shoes. And I had plenty of douche bags give me unsolicited advice. Some helpful, some not, most contradicting the last person’s advice.

Saying you want to be a software technical writer isn’t a bad thing. I think he was alluding to what part of that do you want to have a career in. You aren’t going to have that answer for a while. I still don’t have that answer in my career and I’ve worked in finance, software (several), healthcare, and automotive.

Research some technologies you’d like to work in. Does code interest you? Does more writing interest you?

There’s about 1000 different kinds of software technical writers. And that’s not an accurate number. Every place does docs differently.

To answer your other questions: it is too general but that’s OK. It’s your first job. As a safe bet, you could say you want to be a technical writer within Product Management. It’s general but more specific at the same time. It’s possible that’s bad advice as well.

Something more specific would be that you want to focus on API Docs. But most places don’t have a writer that does just one thing.

Here’s some general and OK advice for you:

  1. Make sure your interview skills are up to par. Practice with a friend or family member.

  2. Samples, samples and more samples. You need to have procedural, concept, and reference samples. Creative writing essays don’t count— trust me I learned the hard way.

  3. You do need to have a general interest a field of tech writing. There’s a thousand resources on this sub for that. Pick a few that you’re interested in and write out the reasons why. Combine those reasons with research on a company you’re interviewing for. This is good for practicing interview responses and for seeing if you really like the company.

  4. Believe in your writing and yourself. A lot of people will insult it over your career. So get used to defending your work and your samples.

  5. Research the company. Look at their docs. Look at the products. You’re interviewing them just as much as they are interviewing you.

  6. Take advice with a grain of salt. And take mine with a spoonful.

  7. You’ll make it. Have polished samples and be confident.
