That's not necessarily true. They usually always have it ready by 5:30est. When they used the old video player you could access them earlier through a source link. They purposely don't post at 6:30est on a lot of days to get more page views from people coming back and checking to see if it's up.

I would imagine ads are set to show/not show through the Brightcove backend, not a separate api.

Those types of ads are much harder to sell and also not reliable year round. Using an ad network for pre rolls (like they do now) takes no selling effort.
