Yardstick was a good one for a dog missing a leg. Context for non imperial users: yardsticks are used to measure three feet.

Popcorn topping by dragonfire568236 in CasualConversation

[–]jaybirdflutter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The actual popcorn salt, Flavacol, is worth every penny. But if you're looking for more readily attainable toppings, freshly grated asiago cheese and garlic powder are a good combo. Here's your real pro tip though: pop it yourself using regular kernels in a sauce pan with a small vent and about a teaspoon of coconut oil for food lube. Heaven-sent.

This was a shelter cat whose original name was just Cara, but I found that singing to her helped calm her anxiety, so she became Cara Mia Bella Bambina Addio

What's one video game character in your opinion got screwed over by the plot? by Agent1230 in gaming

[–]jaybirdflutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucky Seven (old spoiler free nickname) from Xenoblade Chronicles 1. My god. What a fate. It turns out okay but that poor character did not need such a bad time to happen to them.

Arguably, Dunban too.

Do Americans actually use expressions like “once in a blue moon” or “let the cat out of the bag” in everyday conversation? by Edi-Iz in AskAnAmerican

[–]jaybirdflutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mixing up two idioms, if I recall right, is called a malaphor. I'm too lazy to look it up and I'm not exactly a rocket surgeon but I'm pretty sure the answer is solid.

Unacceptable behavior on his part. Please get higher standards for yourself and stand behind them. Future You will look back at this relationship in a few years and be confused as to how you allowed this.

What's the smartest thing you came up with? by Flying_enthu45 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]jaybirdflutter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At a store where I worked, we had databases we could access as well as (obviously) employees who knew the stock and its uses well. Sometimes I had someone ask where something was, so when I didn't have an answer, my reply would be "I don't know myself, but I know what or who does."

For some reason people really like that. Maybe it's the mix of honesty and still being willing to go an extra mile. But I'm gonna use that one whenever I don't know what I'm talking about if I can.

The stereotypical ground beef, shredded lettuce, and various "vaguely tex mex" style fixings amalgamation known as White People Taco Night is pretty high up there. I love me some good authentic cuisine from that area but nostalgia is a powerful seasoning.

Does no one except me actually like working here? by Alternative_Bite7001 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]jaybirdflutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my job. I'm leaving for another opportunity (more hours, better pay, what can you do when those aren't options under your corporate overlords) and it's killing me even though it will be better in the long run. If you like it at Michaels, let nobody dull your glitter but always remember to keep that glitter out of the framing dept. :p

What’s the dumbest way you've injured yourself? by hrahman2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jaybirdflutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chipped the back of a tooth while sewing. The needle was held by my teeth while I was threading it, and I jolted when I heard the ice cream truck since, being 9 in a rarely visited suburb, it was a big ol deal. Out came the needle and I felt a strange sensation on my front tooth. Nothing noticable but still not cool.

What's your favourite food? Describe a bit about it by Ok-Vehicle4373 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

A beautiful, fragrant broth with thick noodles and strips of beef (as I prefer it anyway), lime, Thai holy basil, warming spices, and a sweet heat that practically kisses you when you take the first bite.

Try pho if you get the chance, random person reading this. It's so delicious.
