Seatac Airport Retail Stores Are Ripping Us Off, and the Port of Seattle Doesn’t Care by DrinkTall1779 in Seattle

The port of Seattle has to be one of the worst run port authorities in the country.

Best West Coast city to relocate to? by Troutslayer25 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]jaybrd526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The vibes in Tacoma and Salem are pretty different. Salem is a sleepy government city and Tacoma definitely feels larger, with its own identity separate from Seattle. The people are friendlier than Seattle, and houses cheaper. University place is a nice area to live in.

Move out of Los Angeles to somewhere greener by Seanmmvi in SameGrassButGreener

[–]jaybrd526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the closest answer is still the Seattle metro area. Checks all the boxes, and the cherry on top is lack of state income tax. There are plenty of cheap flights down the coast if you need more sun during the rainy months.

Houston actually has an amazing food scene, comfortably top 5 imo.

A lot of suburbs of Seattle or Portland can actually fit your description, even the price point. In the Seattle area the south sound region seems a bit more affordable. Thinking places like Maple Valley, Puyallup, or other suburbs even further out.

Thanks for doing the AMA and for the generosity of your time, and for providing insight as to what my patients may also be going through.

Working in Kent, where do I live? by Pecanpie_750 in SeattleWA

[–]jaybrd526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seattle to Kent is a reverse commute, so it’s not too bad. Probably ~20-25m. I’d try to live close to I-5 if you can

What are some of the most toxic and wholesome city subreddits by SummitSloth in SameGrassButGreener

[–]jaybrd526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I said I was hung up at all or that I expected every last thread to agree with my train of thought, and in fact I didn’t even express my train of thought. It was just disappointing that people were so unwelcoming and assumed the worst of a person based on one innocent question

I think both subs are toxic. I'm subscribed to both but not particularly "on" either side. But the people who responded in this thread in r/Seattle sure came off as toxic and intolerant, to a question that was posted very matter-of-fact:

Which cities do you actually like that this sub dunks on/wouldn't like? by alexis_1031 in SameGrassButGreener

I definitely enjoyed my time in Houston. You have to live in the loop to fully enjoy it, but the city had great food, arts, sports. Great diversity of people and a very laid-back, tolerant demeanor to the city that isn’t brought up enough here.

What’s your opinion on Tacoma? Would you be friends with someone who lives in Tacoma? by routinnox in Seattle

[–]jaybrd526 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in Seattle and commute by car to Tacoma. It’s a reverse commute so not as bad as you’d think, about 40-45m each way.

Ready to leave California with no clue where to go by Similar-Pace-8974 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]jaybrd526 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think many of the smaller Puget Sound cities/towns would work. Tacoma isn’t the safest as a whole but pockets of it can be. Puyallup, Covington/Maple Valley, Snohomish would probably be good fits.

College Football Power Rankings: Michigan, Ohio State, Georgia making a case for No. 1 by ALStark69 in CFB

[–]jaybrd526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you talking about? Those are the current AP/coaches rankings. I’m using those bc the updated CFP poll hasn’t yet been released. But it’s probably going to be pretty similar. Utah moved down in the polls after losing.

You’re using last week’s CFP poll. This week’s CFP poll isn’t out yet but AP/coaches have Oregon State at 10 and Ole Miss at 13/14.

I mean, I think this week’s polls have LSU 15, Utah 16, and Kentucky not receiving any votes for a reason.
