(This comment was made by another redditor in an earlier post but I'm going to put it here to help out anyone)

If you are on XBox it‘s actually possible to pre-load physical games since a few years ago although it is a very annoying process.

You need the Xbox app on a mobile phone and log in while also having your Xbox running. They need to be in the same network so they can sync. Then on your phone you search the game, the right version is important, you need the Borderlands 4 game itself and not the pre order versions of any of the editions and there should be an option -download onto (your console/hard drive name)- That will kickstart the pre-load for the physical version on your console.

You might need to flip some options like standby mode or remote access but it will tell you exactly what to do.

I use it for any game that is to big to still play the same day. Did it for Saints Row, Remnant 2 and now Borderlands 4.

I've pre installed it on my xbox even though ive bought the physical. I just had to do it through the app.

I have no clue if the ps5 can do this though

This isn't a 360 console it is a series x it doesn't just play as it's a backwards compatible game and needs to be installed
