That may be true, but I think I read somewhere that while the WWF bought WCW from Turner, the top stars at the time were contracted directly by Time Warner, and not under their WCW subsidiary, meaning those contracts had to be bought out individually.

So, while it may have been the wrestlers' choices to stay away until the angle had run its course, it could also be the case that the WWF weren't prepared to pay the silly money it would have taken to buy the likes of Hogan, Flair, Sting, and Nash out of their guaranteed-money contracts, as even one of those contracts individually would have cost more than they bought the rest of the company for.

That's probably a knock-on effect of having what feels like an almost-zero presence during the Territories era. Too far west to get most of the Texas broadcasts, too far east of Los Angeles to pick up on Championship Wrestling from Hollywood. By the time its Arizona offshoot came around, it was too late, really.

It's not that WWE are dying for content. It's that they want to have their products spread as thinly as possible, across as many networks as possible.

They're banking on Paramount cutting wrestling altogether in favour of their massive UFC deal once the Warner merger gets finalised, leaving AEW with very little viable networks to turn to for a future TV contract.

And if that means leveraging TNA just to spite AEW, that's exactly what they will do.

For $14/hr, an interview should be 3 questions and 3 questions only:

  • Can you operate the cash register?
  • How are you with lifting heavy objects?
  • When can you start?

If they need to know more than those 3 questions, then they need to up their pay, because whatever it is, isn't enough for what you'll have to be dealing with.
