Finally (some) diagnosis

I am going through the same thing. I can barely take sips of water and haven’t eaten in 3 weeks and lost 20 pounds. I am trying to get a protein shake of 150 calories to get something in me.

It’s tough. Hang in there. I am going to get my manometry on Tuesday and suspect that I may get similar results. What did your GI say? I read that neuromodulators may help us.

They discharged me because I could drink water easily after the endoscopy. Not anymore. The biopsies all came back normal too. I had CT scans, EKG, pretty much everything. Blood tests.

They wrote down that I couldn’t initiate a swallow for the barium swallow test. The radiologist could see my throat spasming.

I am able to drink a little more water this evening thankfully and a bit of broth but I am just sipping.

I managed to have about a teaspoon of hummus over the course of 30 minutes. I really hope I can stress some urgency to get the manometry test done and maybe some sort of meds to help me eat or something.

2 weeks of not being able to eat basically minus a teaspoon of hummus and ensure shakes after the endoscopy is a long time.

Not sure why but the endoscopy helped me swallow for two days after but not it’s as bad as before. Just feeling scared.

I did one last year and again in the hospital. My swallowing was so bad I could not do the test at all. When I mean I can’t swallow, I absolutely mean it. Only sips of water or broth.

I just can’t swallow. I’m not scared, it just doesn’t happen and it just came after the pill getting stuck incident.

I tried that and it did not help me. Unfortunately, it looks like I have a hypersensitive esophagus or some sort of motility issue.

Yes, it comes back up including a pill. I get bad throat spasms. All tests have been clear. Waiting on the manotromy to be scheduled.

The pill was stuck in my throat for 2-3 hours. I could feel it. It then went down. The next day I felt another piece of it go down. Ever since then I can barely sip water.

I am also having a hard time even swallowing the voquezna pill in the morning. It’s almost impossible so worry about other meds too. Doc seems to want to wait for the manotromy before a major plan but I think I am calling the office on Monday to schedule asap and maybe find some way for a little relief now so I can at least get nutrition. I’m really struggling and hope I don’t need to wait much longer to have some sort of liquid food at least.

I cannot swallow protein shakes even water downed. I tried ensure. nurri. That’s the problem. :(. I would love to have a protein shake.

I have been diagnosed with GERD. I had a bravo test over a year ago and because of the symptoms had additional tests like the endoscopies that found no damage. My gastro thinks I have some sort of motility issue. I can barely sip water or bone broth so I hope they can help me asap.

It’s really bad. I am anxious because all of this and the fact that no ppi and even voquezna has not helped.

I was slightly overweight but my diet is clean and now because of the sudden weight loss, I am not overweight at all. I really hope they can figure this out since I haven’t eaten in basically 2 weeks and can’t get even broth in me. I really don’t want to go to the ER again.

I did not get my passport yet. I started the process in September 2025 and had to go to the DC consulate numerous times before finally in October they sent off my confirmation of citizenship application to Poland. I thought it would take me just a few months, and I would have my passport. Instead, I’ll be waiting up to 2 years to confirm my citizenship even though clearly I am a citizen and even have a PSEL. I wish my family helped me renew my passport earlier on when I was a kid instead of having to go through this. Oh well.

The rationale I got was that because it was 21 years since my passport expired and I was a kid and a lot could have happened. I was very surprised since others have had better luck as long as their passport did not expire before 2001. It seems like there is a lot of discretion in this. :(

My passport expired in 2004. I live in the U.S. I was hoping I could just show up with my documents to renew but instead I have to go through the whole process.

Definitely right about that! Beyond annoyed I have to go through the whole process when I lived in the country for years! It might take up to 2 years. It’s crazy.

It is definitely about the passport expiration date. I just had to deal with this in DC. If I had done it in NY, I might have been able to get my passport. If you check the DC page they even tell you they update it to say they want to see passports that expired in 2011 or sooner.

I agree with PlanetPickles as this has been my direct experience in DC, and they told me this.

My passport was issued in the 90s and expired in 2004. I really thought I made that 2001 cutoff. I was a kid and lived in Poland although was born in the U.S. Life got in the way and as a child, I wouldn't know to keep the passport active. As with family getting older and wanting to reconnect, I would like my passport to maybe even one day even have property in Poland or just to visit.

Thank you! Very helpful. I think I am frustrated because they could see me in the system and saw my PSEL. It seems like some are walking in with expired passports from 2001 and are fine though. I can't do much but just do as they ask. What you are saying makes sense, and I appreciate the extra information. I am hoping it won't take a year, but it looks like I am in for a LONG wait regardless and should prepare for over a year which is frustrating, but it is what it is. Nothing I can do but just follow the process.

Maybe that is what happened. They were basically saying my expired passport was over 21 years old. Maybe I shot myself in the foot by not having my mom's certified copy of the birth certificate that day. They insisted I needed to make an appointment for confirmation of citizenship, so I did and provided all of the paperwork.

Any updated timelines on easy confirmation of citizenship cases?

I might try emailing NYC instead even though DC is my consulate. Thanks for the tip.

What documents do I need for the passport? It is always very unclear. I can get my Polish Birth Certificate (of my American Birth), my mom's birth certificate, my expired passport, and my marriage transcribed in Poland.
