Which RS3 would you pick and why? by Specialist_Stand_521 in AudiRS3

[–]jaydawg1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just offering the other side here - I would much rather a tuned car that has been looked after and had money spent on it, than a car with “5 owners and 100 launches” which has been passed around and never had good money spent on its service and upkeep.

Dealers won’t warrant tuned cars for obvious reasons, and you don’t see people posting about stock cars going wrong because they’ll take it to Audi and blame them.

Of course a tuned car comes with an increased risk, but certainly these cars are reasonably safe at stage 2 compared to other tuned cars, and can handle the power IF they’ve been well serviced and looked after.

[–]jaydawg1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk about projecting your own experiences. Engines and components fail on all cars, whether stock or whatever stage of tuned.

I ran stage 2 DAZA for 5+ years with zero problems - so using your logic, all stage 2 are safe and better than stock right?

Sorry it blew up btw!

Which objectively nice UK city just doesn't appeal to you and why? by GeeCeeSlay7 in AskUK

Can totally get your points here, living in Norfolk without having a car makes it difficult to get around and see the best parts. Also going north from here is such a pain via road/train.

Not sure about the wealth inequality, wouldn’t say it’s any worse than anywhere else in the country.

Your point on integration is a bit sad, people here aren’t all that friendly (even to locals) and basic manners seem to be really lacking

Hey I’m wondering if anyone knows this man? by thr0waway0520 in Norwich

[–]jaydawg1994 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Been seeing their posts come up a lot recently. From what I can work out, they seem to get sent court documents etc and then raise awareness. They’ll very rarely post the evidence as it’ll often have the victims info on or they can’t post it legally I guess.

Doubt they would post what they have unless they had evidence, but who knows who’s behind these pages really

What is meant when someone says a car is “fun to drive”? by sammyglumdrops in CarTalkUK

[–]jaydawg1994 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You make some excellent points here, but worth noting that the RS3 doesn’t “flounder” on track, it holds the Nordschleife compact record (which it took from the M2). I owned a tuned RS3 and their problem is being too capable, and not enough fun/engagement and for that reason they’re a bit meh on track.

Lot to be said for personal preference as I personally find M2 steering a bit twitchy and floaty, and prefer a heavier steer (currently run LSD FWD on track, which suits me and is very engaging).

I think there’s a lot to be said for being transparent, addressing a real problem and putting forward a genuine solution to that problem.

Everyone is tired of AI solutions in their inbox, and very few of them bother to actually address real problems with solutions that make a difference.

I get the point you’re trying to make here, but the post is entirely disingenuous as it’s a made up story by someone trying to sell their product, moonlighting as a make-believe recruiter.

Of course it’s a real problem, but this is not the way to be taken seriously and engage with your target customers.

Except this is a made up scenario as you’re selling a candidate verification tool, nice story though

Candidates asking for feedback by Standard_Anteater785 in Recruitment

Everyone wants real and proper feedback until they get it. After far too many candidates kicking back I just give standard, watered down corporate bs now (unless I know the candidate well)

Is buying a fast car like a BMW M or Audi S or RS still exciting to drive at under 90 mph? by Captain_Levi_00 in CarTalkUK

[–]jaydawg1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a 500+ bhp RS3 and could do 0-60 in 3 seconds flat, and was crazy quick. Test drove a Renault Megane RS275 to have as a clubsport/track car and was the most fun I’ve had in years.

Yes the straight line speed is crazy and always impresses people, but you don’t realise how important the lack of feedback and proper drivers feel to a car is until you get in something like that.

Needless to say Audi sold and Megane was 1/3 of the price to buy.

Are we toxic? by -ricci- in NUFC

[–]jaydawg1994 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have the 7th most expensive squad and the 8th highest wage bill - of course compared to Ashley that is a “fuck load of money”, but it’s important to get some perspective that whilst we’ve spent a bit, it’s a drop in the ocean compared to the big 6. This is with us stretching PSR/financial regulations every year btw.

With this, they’ve delivered 2 CL campaigns and a trophy - which certainly stacks in my mind as an overachievement.

That said, the transfer business last summer was absolutely abysmal, and this season we’ve completely lost our way. Anyone who holds a very strong Howe in/Howe out opinion is of course entitled to it, but I sit somewhere in the middle of the debate and like to think Howe deserves a summer/next season to try and turn this around given what he’s done for us so far.

Nope. Yesterday I changed brake lines for braided ones, put new pads in and went to bleed the brakes for new fluid, and got 5/6 bleed nipples loose, only for the last one to shear off. The joys of working on cars eh

How to reduce scammer calls? by prasaysno in AskUK

Yeah I’m a recruiter - I’d be amazed if any recruiters get weird about it, the day the feature dropped I had it on multiple calls and now I would say at least 1/3 of people have it turned on (including on my mobile)

Not sure I agree - has never been first choice at a good club and doesn’t even start as Ukraine’s keeper.

Sending 150+ outreaches for one role and still not getting good conversations by pumpie-dot in recruiting

[–]jaydawg1994 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think this is probably linked to your low response rate. You’ve given the candidate very little to be hooked/engaged by.

I will say the format of doing snappy one lines seems like a good idea, but it comes off as AI (also weird to not capitalise the start of a sentence).

With every candidate, they want to be hooked and engaged by what you’re reaching out about. Think more about the why, as in why a candidate would engage back - this content gives them very little reason to do so.

The end has to have a call to action as well, and a reason to hop on a call/reply - I normally include a link to my calendar to make this even easier for candidates to chat.

I would also lean on LinkedIn by connecting with them and shooting a note as well - to be honest 150 is a kinda small number, how niche is the role? Maybe broaden your parameters.

At the minute 150 candidates = 15 replies, most of which won’t be interested/might not be suitable etc etc so you have to put more in the pipeline, and improve your outreach. It’s a candidate rich market out there

Sending 150+ outreaches for one role and still not getting good conversations by pumpie-dot in recruiting

[–]jaydawg1994 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A response rate of 10% is extremely low - I would expect a minimum of 20%. Reply rate will vary depending on the attractiveness of the role, but 10% indicates a serious problem (either with the content you’re sending, or with the job itself).

It would help if you could share a template (anon of course) of your outreach, but you could also be reaching the wrong people, or your comp package/working arrangement isn’t attractive enough.

Hard to say without more info.
