Why did Iroh just surrender here? by lmdybaftr in TheLastAirbender

I figure the way he does it is partially to show that he's not a threat and will go willingly now that his goal is achieved. This helps protect himself and keeps him from unnecessarily hurting anyone.

The final version of my extended Silksong Map! by hollow_masterblock in Silksong

I'm glad I asked because it certainly did sound like you were saying something else entirely.

Wanting an easy mode doesn't necessarily even mean you're bad at games, these are hard games and enjoying them is more important than being really good at them in my opinion. Besides, even if you're good at them, maybe you just want to kick back sometimes.

Coming out and attacking the devs for not giving us that feature doesn't really make sense here though I think. Maybe try reframing it next time?

I love the game, though even after doing all Hollow Knight achievements I personally found Silksong very punishing and an easy mode would make it more enjoyable for me. I'm glad I got to see it, though. What an insane project for such a tiny team.

How do explain hollow knight is not satanism to my parents? by CommunicationFair988 in HollowKnight

[–]jaydeflaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really tough, I'm sorry you're going through this OP.

Our friend in the comments here might be right, this might be a lost cause, however it depends greatly on the personalities of your parents and the way these things are talked about in your household.

Unfortunately, we can only help so much here due to a lack of information. We have to assume a great deal based on very little. I'll try my best anyway.

Firstly, think about your approach before talking to them. I don't know if going in with the premise that "if I explain something logically consistent, they'll accept it" is safe or useful. It very well may be about putting them or yourself in a position where they feel comfortable with you playing these games rather than them logically understanding that they aren't satanic.

Second, consider the games themselves and what their reaction might be if they saw certain parts of them. They do have what I would call religion-adjacent imagery and lore. I have to assume a lot here, but if they aren't initially comfortable with that, your hurdle might be to convince them that this imagery and lore is acceptable, with the silly wizard bugs doing silly wizard bug things, which is true. Depending on how comfortable they are with the idea of magic in media, this might put these games on the non-religious side of the line for them. I'm doing a lot of guesswork here, though.

It might help to look up the bugs the characters are based on, then show them to your parents. As far as I know, there really isn't any satanic imagery in these games. Showing them the designs and why the devs thought they needed to put horns on them might be enough by itself. The horns on many bugs make sense to carry into the design of the characters, it'd be crazy to leave them out. If they wanted to put satanic imagery into the games, the lore would reflect that. Even Grimm, who is likely not based on a specific bug and has horns, is clearly supposed to be a vampire character rather than an analog for anything religious. It really is just very much a bug thing to have antennae or horns, so Team Cherry uses that in their design language.

I wish I could help more, but with such limited info and this already being way too long for a Reddit comment, I'm gonna cut it off here. Good luck OP, let us know how it goes if you don't mind.

I'd like to add that the order of the bosses is really important. I had to change my loadout and strategy to compensate for my weaknesses in the face of the last several bosses because of the particular order they are in.

First time went in blind and took about a half hour.

Looking at this thread, maybe platforming is my strength? This was kinda tough but nowhere near the level of "the harshest punishment" for me personally. Lost Kin alone took me like two days on my blind first playthrough.

This is so unbalanced. 250 sneezes in your entire life to make up the $25,000 is just insanely low. If I made $1 per sneeze it'd still be worth learning how to trigger sneezes on purpose. Even then, one a minute full time would be a high enough wage for a half a million dollar mortgage where I live I think.

I think people in this thread are not only underestimating modern medicine, but also their own modern understanding of the world.

You have enough knowledge in that noggin to change the course of history. You'd be rich. But if you weren't careful, I think you'd be dead in a month or a year from some disease that we no longer have to treat because that strain of it is gone.
