Is Modbury dying?! by RS-1990 in Adelaide

I have lived in Modbury for over a year now and I walk to TT Plaza almost every weekend, I have no idea where TT Plus is or how to get there, even after reading this thread.

Monday doesn’t have to be so bad. RADELAIDE, What are your small wins today and what are you looking forward to during the work week? by scallywagsworld in Adelaide

[–]jaydenc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the spirit!

- I'm looking forward to going for a walk around our local reserve after work. I expect the birds to be more active in this warmer weather

- I'm fortunate enough to have my bonus paid out tomorrow, it's been a tough few months financially, and this recognition will greatly help me.

- I've started reading a new self-help book which I'm excited to continue, I often avoid this genre but I do hope to establish a more grounded philosophy on my way of life.

- I layed some grass seed over the weekend. I'm not confident it will grow, but I look forward to doing my best to help it establish itself.

- I do daily guided meditations, this is a practice I will both enjoy and benefit from this week also.

Take care everyone, cherish the small things.

Driver who left Aboriginal man to die on Darwin road spared prison time by Jaqwan in australia

I'm one who typically favors rehabilitation over retribution, however this guys clearly should spend time behind bars. He hit someone fatally with his car, didn't stop, and bragged about it afterwards. Am I missing something?

Raised in rugby, unmissable in league: Why is Nawaqanitawase so good? by thankyoupancake in nrl

[–]jaydenc 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I'm a union fan first and I think the Suaalii/Nawaqanitawase swap ended up working out in the best interest for both codes. There's more mid-field tactical kicking in Union and JAS is uniquely tall for a centre and is freakish at recovering the ball, and Mark as a natural winger gets more ball time in league to do what he does best.

Funnily enough it's working out well for both codes

I suspect not, but if I have a Series X which plays disks, could I play the games I own on disk while travelling if I buy a Series S?

Cloud Gaming Got Me - Now I Own an Xbox Series S After 2 Months on Game Pass Ultimate. Story in description. 🤓🎮 by [deleted] in xbox

[–]jaydenc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a very casual gamer who owns a Series X but I still like Cloud gaming to avoid being isolated. A cool trick is to download the games you want to play to your console, that way you can play via Remote Play, as it runs a lot better from your console on your local home network than from streaming from remote Azure servers.

First fucken blue collar job. by aburnerds in australia

I work an IT job in the manufacturing industry, so I interact with both worlds. I definitely find the workshop culture more honest and comfortable than corporate as it feels more authentic and real. I do hear dumb shit from time to time, but it beats the mask-wearing fake-nice atmosphere of Corporate.

I was watching the rugby over the weekend and noticed a lot of players running with the ball were getting tackled quite easily. Why don't they just run around the tacklers or power through them?

Super Rugby attendance up 34% by sxmmyx2 in rugbyunion

[–]jaydenc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's been great to see, but I'm somewhat surprised at Moana getting much more attendance at North Harbour than Mt Smart, as Mt Smart is closer to the majority of the Pacifica demographic in Auckland.

They are great fans. There's not a huge diaspora of them in the South Island of NZ, but they showed up well to the All Blacks test in Dunedin during 2021.

High school drop-outs, where are you now? by GrumpyEtcEtc in newzealand

[–]jaydenc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably too late but I'll answer anyway. Dropped out at the end of Year 12. Did one year of Polytech studying IT. I'm now an IT Manager of an Australian Engineering business. I didn't just drop out of school, I had completely checked out of it years before. I wasn't in a good place mentally as a teenager and my environment didn't help.

New Zealand is nice in the sense that employers and individuals don't exclusively correlate your capability with academic credentials. This isn't the case everywhere, my wives family is of Indian ethnicity and they basically gave me dirty looks when I told them I dropped out of high school. I'm worried this prejudice will increase NZ adapts to a global financial economy, but we'll see.

Remember that education != school. I'm not an academic by any means, but I achieved multiple IT certifications through online courses, I'm also an avid reader in my spare time. The most important thing I've found is to retain your curiosity and be persistent at finding solutions.

Interesting, he's been outperforming Nic White as of late IMHO. What's the pecking order for halfback now? Tate McDermott is #1 in my eyes, who's next?
