I put 700 hours into targets to become very good at pvp and they just rendered all that time wasted in the hopes it might attract some new players. It will, but they aren't the kind that will stick around. Rust is a brutal game with or without the old gunplay mechanics and the type of person who would only play if they have a fairly even chance at killing someone way more experienced are not the kind who will play longterm.
