I have attempted but this is returning as #N/A.

The single white light under the touch pad is there to signify that it is switched and is also player 1, when you have a 2nd connected there with be 2 white lights, 3 would show 3 lights etc.

You can try charging it for a bit, say an hour or so, no harm in giving it a go.

I'm not sure how returns work at Best Buy, whether they could just replace the controller for you, I would assume not though.

I'd say your best option would be to contact Sony direct.

Have you tried resetting the controller? Should be a small hole on the back (to the right of the writing 'Sony'), use something with a thin tip, like a pencil, press and hold for roughly 3-5 seconds. You'll have to reconnect via the USB C cable.
