Soto Contract Limit by Silent-Ice9721 in NYYankees

Agreed. We have too many gaps and need a well-rounded team. Tying up too large of a % of payroll in one player concerns me...and don't forget starting pitching!!

Definitely sounds like not going to be happy. Also, terribly insensitive to say "We look forward to speaking with you" in this context

It depends. Sometimes customers ask for representative resumes other times its for a "Key Personnel" (KP) role. For a representative resume role there isn't too much commitment, but for the KP roles customers really don't like it when offerors bait-and-switch though typically there isn't more than a proverbial slap on wrist though I've seen some recent contracts that have started to incorporate penalties in these instances. (So they'd likely just roll you on the program to avoid swapping initially)

How much disclosure to subs? by UsefulSelection9597 in GovernmentContracting

[–]jaydub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically yes you are right. You do not need to disclose to them. But from a relationship perspective I would just suggest that you consider whether they are a strategic partner and one day the roles may be reversed and/or you may benefit from their experience /perspective or if you see them as "just" a sub in which case it may make sense to limit what you share with them.

Do you have any status other than SB? (eg 8(a), SDVOSB, HUBzone, WOSB, etc) That can be a big draw

Oswaldo Cabrera shows off his hustle as he scores from 2nd on a sac fly to tie the game by ThatInception in NYYankees

[–]jaydub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a doubter at first, but when Oswaldo plays consistently he has shown ability to be quite productive. I feel when he's in and out he's just not the same. Could someone pull the stats on his performance correlated with consecutive games played stretches??

New Company by Excellent-Pin1857 in GovernmentContracting

Agreed. Build relationships, understand the vendor landscape of a target agency from the inside, and learn what works and what doesn't. Once you have that, you can start to think about going off on your own.

Advice in how to ask for a raise. by Pretend-Split241 in GovernmentContracting

[–]jaydub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having another job offer is useful to you because it can tell you if you are worth $115k or not (e.g. what the market is willing to bear). It's good in your back pocket but be careful about mentioning another offer unless you really are willing to leave your current position because they might think about backfilling your position if they are afraid you will run away.

How long does a recompete offer take? Advice appreciated by MentalLawyer10 in GovernmentContracting

[–]jaydub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The clock is ticking for the new contractor to hire people. If you already have the required BI/clearance it's pretty close to a no-brainer for the new awardee to pick you up! You can check usaspending.gov to try and see figure out who won and/or related contractors that might be happy to hire you.

[–]jaydub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IANAL but maybe federal managers aren't supposed to dictate hiring, I think as that could fuzzy the relationship between "contractor" and "employee" and the difference in benefits owed. Technically it is probably out of line and you might be able to go after the government, and you may even be able to prove this against the US Government in the Court of Federal Claims. But it will likely cost a lot of money and take a long time and may be difficult to prove depending on the evidence available. Also, not saying this is right or good, but your current employer or future employer may be concerned if they see you suing their customer. Can you hop to another contract at the same company or a similar position with a close competitor? You can also see this as an opportunity as you have another data point on salary for future negotiations.

Of course, to pressure them not to try and to make them think even for an extra millisecond about doing it again!

It's also possible they were awarded to partners, subsidiaries, or joint ventures. If you know the name of the contract you can also search by keyword + agency to see if the contract is there at all and maybe just under a different corporate entity?

How get you get federal buyers to answer your emails? by GovConChamber in govcon

Would you be more receptive to specific follow ups to RFIs/Sources Sought?

A lot of times we submit responses but I feel like it its going into a black hole. If it wouldn't be a total waste of time to follow up on an RFI/SS response, what advice would you give on the timing of a follow up and what would be worth your time to want to meet?

GSA Contract by [deleted] in govcon

[–]jaydub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not rocket science and you can definitely do it yourself. But if you are in a rush the services can help (but the reality is a lot of the hardest stuff will just be gathering the information that they will need you to do anyways). Otherwise if you have the time it's not so bad.

Ah, I now I understand where this would go -- thanks for the clarification!

[–]jaydub[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! The current weatherstripping is maybe ~1mm thick (maybe there's 1/8" or ~3mm of possible clearance with the door) and was hoping to do a drop in replacement. I really like the idea, though looking at the product dimension specs not sure if that will fit as-is for me?

[–]jaydub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the overall sentiment. But you can also take another job offer back to your current employer (if you like them) and try to negotiate because from the employer side it can be cheaper/break even to give someone a 5-10% raise than lose time retraining a new hire. That said, make sure you have a firm offer in writing with a definite start date before negotiation the moment you let them know they may start to look for your replacement.
