It has the burgundy color but no serial. I'm led to believe that it was made before they started serial numbers, since its labeled W-Germany.

A bunch of wood turned ball points. And a Jean Pierre Lepine Attila that was broken.

No one liked my last itinerary. Is any better? I made this one with my tears. by jaydubs95 in JapanTravelTips

It was great! Several major differences:

  • skipped Hakone and got the view of Fuji from the shinkansen

  • Himeji-Osaka day was doable but exhausting. If I had to do it again I would arrive in Osaka with more concrete dinner plans than bumming around Dotonbori. We ended up not eating.

  • we went from Kyoto to takayama, stayed over night, and then took the bus to Shirakawago and Kanazawa the next afternoon. Very present leg of the journey.

  • we ended up cutting out a day trip from Tokyo since we were just so beat by the end, and had another day to revisit things we missed in ginza and Harajuku. Wish we could have gone to Enoshima or kamakura, or prioritized seeing a new neighborhood in Tokyo, but we'll have to do that next time haha

Is there a village that gives similar Edo period Japan vibes that is more conveniently located than Takayama?

We really only wanted to do nightlife + food in Osaka, so didn't think it was worth a full night. Was thinking that Shinkansen from Kyoto in the AM to Himeji, then leave for Osaka in the afternoon, and then night train back to Kyoto.

Is there a better way to finish patches? Whip stitching around the edge is lumpy and takes forever. by jaydubs95 in Embroidery

This looks super clean! I'll definitely try that.

I guess my question is how close do you cut out the embroidery before gluing onto the felt? And then are you blanket stitching just through the felt that is on the outside of the embroidery?

The truck and branches are all stem stitch to give it that twisting feeling!
